So I am on Lamictal. And I started another med call Zyprexa. I was on abilify and it worked for awhile, but when I smoked while taking this med, my sister said I was non-response and after awhile when I hade not smoked for a couple of weeks, I hade very bad panic attacks and started flipping out on abilify I am little worried if I smoke while on my new med that it will stop working. I mean maybe, that other med was just not for me and weed hade nothing to do with it. I want to get better, I just don’t want to flip and have the meds not work. Cause going on another med sucks ass. I guess I should not have smoked so much and ate a crap load of brownies; I should have only taken like 2 hits. Just to get little chill out and feel creative and not high as a kite

I have a friend who has bipolar disorder, and I know she takes meds. I'm not sure if it's lithium or sodium valproate (although I seem to remember the name being closer to the latter) and she smokes/smoked a lot of weed.

It didn't seem to affect her any worse than it did me or my other friends except that she'd get a little more panicky sometimes. She's always kind of tense, though...

Why don't you ask your doctor if there are known interactions with marijuana? It's best to be straight up with those guys... They're out to help you.

i feel that if your taking a medication to get your mind right you must feel you really need the medication,
therefore you should take ONLY the medication and abstain from weed, alcohol or anything else that is not prescribed by same said person who prescribed you the medications to get your mind right..
otherwise your just takin the pills for nothing..

My gf took abilify for awhile, she always told me smoking on it made the medication stop working. I have no idea about lamictal but her parent's take that and smoke constantly.

Ok thanks. Yeah I don't want to take pills for nothing. I still plan asking my sister if she can get some smoke for me cause I don’t have a hook ups in town and I only see her a couple times a year, doesn’t mean I will smoke, I want to hold on to it for a long while, and each time I see my doctor. I will see how she thinks I am doing. And least I will have smoke even if I am smoking, so when the time is right I know I can smoke.

how does you doctor feel about street drugs?if he seems ok with definately ask him about it.my doctor actually suggested smoking to me.i told him last week that it wasnt putting me to sleep anymore and not doing much to calm me down as well.said i wasnt gonna bother puffing anymore but he told me not to stop cuz it still lifted my mood and kinda calms me down.i was on lamictal, welbutrin and atavan when he suggested it.but you know that drugs affect people differently but your doctor can help you out.its better that the doctor knows about it even if they are against it.they cant rat you out for it even if you are under 18.they can give you meds that dont react with weed

My phychatrist is a woman, and she would only see that as substance abuse and tell you not do it.

I wouldn't take the bipolar meds. stay away from that pharmacutical brainwashing shit, and stick with Mary Jane. She'll take care of you.

I wish that were the case. They put me on these meds, and I have bad side effects. My heart was racing for a few hours. I know I need to be on meds. I don't have the hook ups in town, only when my sister come into town. I wish I hade the hook ups like I used too. I wish I could get stoned go into my grandmothers room and chat with her, and my cat would be putting is pawn under the door to come in That’s when things fell apart. All that is not going to happen cause their both dead. I wish I were ok. Man I wish so many things. I just want to smoke. I just don't want the meds to stop working. Cause going on another sucks ass. Just wanted to see what you people thought.

If you're bipolar i wouldnt worry about it, my girlfriend is bipolar and she smokes too. Smoking weed is beneficial to bipolar people, they actually make medicine that is essentially weed in a pill that they give to people with disorders like that. So it probably wasnt the medicine that stopped working, it was probably that you stopped smoking weed. And if you get worried about it, talk to your psycyatrist or whoever gave you the meds, because if you tell them you smoke weed they'll prob have some advice, plus they aren't aloud to tell your parents without your permission

I am not worried about my mom, once in a great blue moon she will want to smoke. Plus she self medicates. And drinks while taking meds, like clonazapan. So she has no room to talk

I get lots of panic attacks, and have tons of anxiety. Plus depression. And I have lots of nightmares. I am doing great on my meds. I just don’t want to fuck that up. That’s why I made this thread

I take depression meds and smoke weed, but sometimes weed makes me majorly depressed. Weed isn't always the best medicine..

I 2 have Biplolar and used to take an anti-seizure medication for my bi-polar called Trileptal. It worked sooooooo good for me!!! I smoked to and it didnt do anything! Im not on any meds at all which really really really sucks right now. Its so weird how easy u can tell on and off the meds. They make such a huuuge difference! Im gonna be hopefully getting some meds soon! I cant wait to go back to feeling normal... What kind of bipolar do u have? I dont have 1 or 2 i have the one where its just up and down and really random all the time. It sucks!
