Hey, so I recently started wondering what ya'll here think about the whole crocheting thing. I have tons of loose hair and over the past-almost-a-year the locks have just been spitting out more. I dont mind that much, really, but I just started to think that I can kind of...refocus the loose hairs' energy to my dreads by just pulling them to the roots with a crochetting needle.

I know they'll work something out in years, but that kind of seems to be something that really helps with the dreads in general, not just mask helping like alot of the things people do to their dreads.

Sometimes it just kind of makes me sigh if I walk past a mirror and at the first glimpse i just see messy hair and none of the nearly 40 locks I have up there. The wind just covers the locks with loose hair and sometimes it's disturbing, but on the other hand I totally respect the journey and the process, crochetting just seems to be something different...it's like giving a helping hand to someone.

Thoughts? I havent really decided and I don't really care as much as it probably sounds but I wanna hear what people think about this in general.

I do crochet 'm once in a while. But the main reason is that when I put the loose hairs in I don't have to rip 'm for a month orso, otherwise I everyday have to keep them from growing to one big congo (which I don't want).
I don't like how they look when crocheted, but that looks gone in a week orso.

By that you mean the 'cleaner' look or is there some special crocheted look?

I might give it a try some day, there are tons of tutorial videos out there if you don't know how to crochet them @ Kannabis king.

I crocheted in loose hairs around my dreads, well like most of them as its pretty time consuming. i'm also working on my tips to get a blunt effect rather that inches of loose 'normal' hair.
After crocheting loose hair, the dread has a kind of weaved appearence, although after a week or two they will have sorted them selves out.
It took me a while to get used to crocheting, but ive got pretty fluent now so its taking less and less time.
One more point, i used to use a thicker hook, around 2.5mm but now im using a 1.25 mm. Even though the smaller hook takes more time i think it works alot better and is somewhat easier.

    :)

Given enough time, your dreads will tighten up just as much as they would with crocheting. Seems like a waste of energy to me....and plus, I don't like the look of crocheted dreads because you can see the little holes where the needle went through. As i always say, "needles are for sewing, not hair." lol
