This past weekend I had a very intense meditation session that was very fulfilling. When I was finished I went outside and sat back in this special chair on my pool deck. I was looking up at a full view of a perfectly blue sky. I began to focus as I just had been while meditating. I stared into the sky and started to see little swirls of light in the sky. Sort of like a bunch of specs of light just traveling in circles and moving in a flowing motion. The most interesting part is that I haven't tripped for a few weeks now. but since my first trip I have noticed some floaters(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floaters) in my vision. For some reason I feel they have something to do with the visuals of that afternoon but I can't prove it. I also lend some of this to the concentration in meditation. When I stare at blank or mosaic floors in school I tend to zone in and the whole suface starts to move in flowing patterns. I usually even get visuals from weed. Nothing intense just slight trailing and a surface style visual relatable to T.V. Snow on everything. (I believe someone posted about that sort of thing in marijuana, THC Visuals) So basically I'm sort of wondering if this is some sort of flashback phenomona or HPPD or just seeing things?
absofukinlutely. my sober eyes have been given some kinda gift after acid tripping. I always had fuzzy pixellated visuals when I closed my eyes. weed enhanced it, then acid took them to a seriously meaningful level, and they have a big part in my meditation. I figured everybody had it, but after asking a few people who said they didn't I just considered myself lucky. Although sometimes I get to the point where I think something's wrong with me, but those times are few. I think it's an awesome gift for which I'm grateful and I'm glad you have it too. It's quite a show when I close my eyes these days
I know exactly what you mean, it is especially powerful with meditation. I just thought I was visually sensitive or something but good to hear there are others as well. It's definitely a gift and one that is most enjoyable. After the original post earlier I went to the same spot on the pool deck and sure enough after a little concentration the visuals were back. But we can't be the only ones with this... ...can we?
well it seems as though this might be fairly common.... But by telling my friends who don't do acid, It feels like they think I'm going crazy or something...
It's entirely normal. People have been describing them for thousands of years actually. In the Surangama Sutra, Buddha speaks with Ananda about the nature of Mind Essence, and when Ananda ask's about reality and the questioning get's really deep, Buddha several times (I think around 4 or 5) compares a few things which are insignificant, or illusions, as being 'as empty and pointless as the blossoms we see in the sky.' Here is a direct quote from that particular Sutra itself : "Suppose a man with good fresh eyes looks steadily into the bright, shining space of the sky without glancing about or winking. After long staring, there arise contaminations of the eyes and in the emptiness of space, he sees fantastic blossoms and many other strange phantasms. These fantastic blossoms that the contaminated eyes see in the open space of the sky come neither from the sky nor from the eyes..."
It is a blessing for our mental pleasure, but when that light of creation starts to open up and absorb your consciousness, it becomes very painful if you are not ready for it. It's happened to me several times. When your meditation start's to go in the direction of transcendence and complete mental/phsycial shut down in order to tap into the nature of your true Self, the visuals become a curse  Oh why is it always up and down with God and Love?! Namaste
That's an interesting view RELAYER. I know what you mean by the light of creation and the shut down of the body, but I just never felt the visuals were a curse or something in the way.
