Do you condone your children from drinking underage? Do you have a problem with it, even if they are responsible about it? I'd just like imput from other people. I am in highschool and its pretty hard to avoid, and I admit that I usually do it every weekend. I hate lying to my mom about where I am and what I'm doing...saying im at a movie when in reality im at a party.... saying im sleeping over a friends house when im just crashing some where random. I feel its the only way I can get away with it because shes against it. I wish I could be honest but then it would restrict me from what im allowed to do...stricter curfeus ect. I feel like im gonna have to kinda hide all of my party life until college....but i hate lying to my mom because I feel like its destroying our relationship/trust. I just dont want her to worry. Whats your guys imput?
my hubby and I have 2 girls whom aren't at that stage yet, but we have morals and yes a lot has to do with peer pressure. My youngest daughter is pretty observant with things "do you know thats bad it takes 7 minutes away from your life" We don't lie to our children so in our household we expect open communication. A really stupid example of a time when my sister got drunk when she was young was "AHHHHHH dad i have the flu" Right! at 3 in the morn ... busted!!! get in bed! So i think if you can be true to yourself and you know your friends are doing wrong.. you know its wrong. NOW If you have to lie to mom and say something different, obviously its wrong am i correct ?? Fess up and be true to you and mom and allow you guys to have bond, nothing wrong with family time friend time etc . But if you have to beat around the bush just to lie to your mom theres a prob right dude.
i know for me my parents are so paranoid that i will drink that it made me want to drink like they bought a special liquor cabinet with locks on it and shit and yea i dono its not good to lie but thats how i handle things
My parents would kill me but one of my friends goes out every single friday night and gets pissed. Another friend got drunk too with her boyfriend. One of my closest friends has drunk alcohol but i dont know if shes gotten drunk... Their parents are pretty calm about it all and their parents know about it...
As the mom of a teenager I have only one thing to say "I can stand you harshest truth better than your sweetest lie."
i dont like to drink very much at all as it is a horribly dangerous drug both in the short term and long term, i just stick to green. although its a simular issue between them as in i wouldnt like to be caught by my rents doing either (doesnt stop it happening). I have got into a habit of lying to my rents about what im doing even if im doing something normal like going to a friends house to play PS3, i normally just say im seeing a film and having a meal with friends and they give me £20 (about $40) and i go about my buisness.
Im not allowed to drink. But I have before, not much fun. Thats why I stopped. But the weird thing is I can smoke pot, but not in the house lol.
Hmm, perhaps a son, men seem to handle alcohol much better.. Daughters? Don't know, probably not.. Maybe in the house, but not out at other locations. I don't plan on having children though. My mother on the other hand, allowed me to begin drinking at age 18, even though I had been drinking long before then. But my mother's also one of those "If you can take my son away, stick him in a desert country with an M-16 and force him to kill people, then by george, he can drink" types of people.
my parents started letting me drink when i was like 15ish, sometime around then. I dont get why they dont let me smoke weed though, i guess its illegal. but its just weed
My parents always drank, I guess this was never really an issue in my house. They started drinking when they were teenagers and they allowed us to also, at home only. I mean its not like we got drunk or anything, a wine cooler here or there if there was a party going on. I guess my parents weren't stupid enough to believe me if I said I'm going to xy&z and there won't be any drinking. They know what kids do and it is better that they know rather than being oblivious to the dangers involved in them not knowing what is going on with their kids.
Well i have had my first drink about the age of 6. Being of european decent my parents dont really mind when i drink. Ive done it alot but not like eveyrday. Just like a few times a year. I personally dont like drinking and my parents dont mind if i get drunk .. the only time they would step in if it would become a problem.(alcholic or drinking on a regular basis)
