Ok, so I went on a really mild liver cleansing diet for a month or so, not eating any red meat, saturated fats, additives, dairy products, but I could eat chicken for the first and last weeks and fish the whole time. I could only use a little bit of olive oil.

I am a very skinny guy and have lost a lot of weight since, but i used the diet to help curb my allergies. It worked for about 5 weeks until my allergies became bad again, and what was worse is that despite trying to keep protein up with nuts, fish, legumes, beans, mushrooms etc.....I was horribly fatigued. MY brain was foggy and my allergies slowly returned and came back worse. I went through the detox fatigue (headaches etc.) in the first week or so, so i don't think it was just me detoxing.

My friend's mother (a homeopath) said that it was stupid of a young slim person to deprive themselves of lots of good animal and other fat, especially since I work 55 hours a week in a physical job.

After I returned to eating cultured dairy products and meat, my allergies improved, my brain fog dissapeared, I regained all the energy I never had etc.

I eat a very balanced diet now on top of the meat and dairy. Wholemeal grains, raw vegetables, salads with meals and lots of fruits. I eat nothing artificial.

What I want to know is, now that I have been back on meat and dairy for a week, why am I always really, really hungry? I just can't stop eating. It was like this before I went on the liver diet.

I have heard dairy products (i only eat yoghurt and organic butter by the way) have an effect of reinforcing food cravings? Is this true?

Don't quite know what to tell you though I'd be real hesitant to call dairy "good"- except eggs... and I'd limit how much red meat I ate. I can't say I could even speculate about what's triggering your hunger. You're probably on the right track as far as experimenting to see if you can pinpoint a cause of your allergies. Try incorporating locally produced honey in your diet. Personally I favor simpler foods; I read ingredients lists and stay away from most sugars (look for words ending in "-ose" as well as corn syrup) as well as preservatives and colors as these substances have no place in any diet and their effect on the body long term is tough to predict. Your post suggests that you have a fast metabolism and exercise enhances that- this will help deal with unnatural substances taken in under the guise of "food".

Sorry I can't answer your question... good luck.

you're 23...so i'm a bit hesitant to say that you're eating too much until you actually post a log of what you eat for a couple days in a row. are you just always munching on stuff throughout the day as well? i mean, i'm 23 and i eat a lot and i always feel hungry. i definitely have to stop myself from overeating...but i always feel hungry. were still growing at this age and you're working a physcial job.

or maybe you're just having trouble getting back into a regular eating regimen after a strict reduction in food. some people have trouble transitioning from that back after such type of diet.

healthy fats will make ya feel more full and will slow down the digestion of foods a bit, so you'll get a more steady stream of nutrients in your body. maybe the head fog was due to not enough carbs - its a common thing to happen.

i'm not sure about the allergies. but i think you didn't need to do any detox type stuff.

its probobly just because you have an active metabolism, and smoking weed will make you more hungry, thats why i try to eat before i smoke.

i dont think you should eat just anything ending with "ose" in it because its proven that foods with high fructose corn syrup in it make for a fatty liver, not to mention its made by a molding process itself and has similar effects as alcohol would to the liver.Try eating a wide variety of nuts and fruits, eat less red meat and drink hot tea occasionally that is sweetened with honey.

I believe that this was pretty much the same point I posted but I suppose it can now be believed because you posted it.

Excersize. The more you work out, the more you want to eat.

This doesn't further the topic and any threatens to veer discussion down a less constructive path. I can personally forgive your choice to express yourself in the manner that you have but in my capacity in helping keep thing orderly here it is my responsibility to remind you that personal attacks are frowned upon here.

Clearly in the context of the discussion we are pretty much on the same page as far as diet is concerned. Trumping what another person posts with the same opinion but suggesting that the other person is somehow wrong shows remarkably bad manners and suggests that your agenda might be less concerned with actually giving out diet advice and more intent on attempting to prove how much smarter you are than someone else. I am indeed dealing with it by calling you on it. Throwing out provocative words like jackass and bitch can only have the effect of degrading the discussion into a flame war and out of respect for Face Eater we need to keep the thread civil and on topic.

Clearly you and I agree that sugars, specifically highly refined sugars, have limited if any place in the human diet. For the sake of the integrity of this discussion let's keep to the subject at hand and sheathe and verbal daggers.

    Peace.
