So im 15 right, and iv got 3 years of highschool left. Im thinking about what i want to do. And i think living in a van would be cool, but i dont know what i would do IN the van. I wanna go places and shit..but id need money, and stuff. This is really just me rambling so if anybody has any suggestions for what i can do with my life, while living in a van and going places. That would be good. Thank ye.
Living in a van would probably get annoying after a while, but you could park one in your front yard and totally hip it out. Might as well just stay in your room and enjoy the comforts of living with your parents and not having to pay for shit.
I think you need to learn a skill that you could use to support yourself first. Then get the van and travel around plying it.
you wouldn't do much of anything in the van, really. it'd be a place to sleep and store your stuff, most of your activities would be outdoors. don't forget to bring your surf/skate/snowboard! living in a van is good fun, but not for an extended period of time.
"Well Laddy frickin duh. Youll be doing alot learning skills to support yourself. "When Your LIving In A Van Down by The River" http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299776
during the summers you can work in the okanagon valley in the orchards, you can make good money but only if youre hardcore
i'm glad i'm not the only one who immediately thought of this... but yeah, if i'm going to be a bum living out of my vehicle, i at least want an RV...
How you're gonna go places if you gotta finish HS? But do it. If it doesn't make sense, it's bound to bring you some benefit.
It sounds great. I'd like to do that myself, but I know it's just an impossible dream. I can't help you with suggestions... but I'd love to do some great travelling and not care about anything.
It's absolutely certainly entirely possible. If you have a persona that impresses people, then you're laughing. If not, well, there is all that fruit picking and stuff but I have no idea about living on the road in Canada. You've just reminded me that I was going to feature my own living quarters on my website .... I'll do it when I'm not working too much. That's another thing - I've been driving taxis for almost a year now and have saved up enough money to bum for a year. Living in a van would be wonderful - but I insist on 4WD. So yeah do it. If I was 15 again I'd leave school, get a trade and go from there. But only a fool would do what I'd do. Possibly? Then consider how you're going to cope in the future - my back is stuffed (at 26!) and there is no way I'd want to be laying concrete. Or stocking shelves. Or something. Also learn vehicle maintenance. It saves you a lot of money and if you can change a drive shaft, you also kill time. I like to kill time. Anyhoo ....
Or you can be a career Musician. My old Sitar teacher, travels in a van, playing shows. That's the only other thing I can think of, you kind of have to make money.
Well, the first practical advice I would give you is to try and contact somebody who has done something similar, and ask them for advice on how they made it happen, possible pitfalls etc. Being well prepared for any situation greatly increases your chances of success. You should check out this thread. TwoDogs, a member on here has spent 21 years living from his van. The thread itself is interesting enough and maybe if you PM'd him for more specific advice, he might be able to help you. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=291549&page=1&pp=10 Travel safe, travel free.
in 3 years gas will be close to 10 bucks a gallon. i for one wouldnt even be entertaining the thought of even a semi nomadic lifestyle if fuel was in the equation..
