So me and a buddy have a seed(possibly getting more) and we're gonna start growing soon around summer.. I've done alot of research, but not enough really and am confused on some things.

We have space indoors for it, and we're looking at getting 2 400 w lights for it, then blue flourescents for before it flowers...is this on the correct path?

And with soil, we're looking at using a miracle grow mix, with some things we've found at stores (dolomite lime, bone and blood feed) but still are wondering what is more essential for a plant?

I'm gonna keep studying the mjguide.com tutorial for now though, and read through these forums.

No soil. Go hydro. Drip for Vegs and Ebb n Flow for Flowering. Set it and Forget it of Pot growing. Dont use Miracle grow if you must grow with soil...soo many better alternatives. Hehe and you may need a few more seeds. its best to plant 10+ at a time let em grow, clone one of each and after the clones root flower THEM. So you can find the sex of all 10 plants early. Out of that 10 maybe only 3 will be female and able to grow dank

I'm not really looking to grow hydro on my first time, im not experienced with normal inside growing yet so i need an idea of what i need to deal with..

What would be a good soil mixture though for good root strength, overall health, nutrients and growth?

Well soil is an excellent choice, and contrary to the above advice, is alot cheaper, easier and less work than hydroponics. Hydroponics have to be monitored constantly due to fluxuations in pH and nutrient strength which can occur daily. You can easily kill a crop too. But when you do get the process down it works well.

Miracle Grow will work fine if that is all you can get just use it in small amounts 1/4 strength and add a tsp/gallon of epsom salts every once in a while (for Mg).

Soil (cheap and easy mix) - sterlized potting soil add 20% perlite and you are good. If you want, head over to Subcool's thread on his soil mix.

Well today i ended up buying a mixture of different things.. I got some mexican bat guano(for flowering stage), vermiculite, this fertilizer http://www.horticulturesource.com/product_info.php/products_id/2251, and a seperate soil mixture. Not even sure if fertilizer is suitable for a plant though, need help on this..

Lighting was too exspensive at the hydroponic store we came to, runned like 170 for a reflector and a 400 w HPS...Metal halides were in the 200's for a package.. so im looking at an outdoor setup now probably, probably going to mix some soil on sunday and do germination a week from then..

    Bump!

need help on this, not sure how much of everything i should use for my soil mix..

    Thinking 1/2 potting soil
    1/4 vermiculite
and the rest would be that fertilizer with a spoon or three full of epsom salt for a magnesium source
    then bat guano for later

    maybe?
