hey there dread buddies :), just wondering if any of you lovely people can help me out. I've just bought a few felting needles to try to tighten up some of my loose hairs, a 36 a 38 and a 40 gauge, and basically im just wondering how i go about it, is it as simple as going back and forth through the dread? cuz i have tried that and it makes an odd almost ripping sound which is worrying lol, knowing me i am going about it all wrong, so im just looking for an experienced loose hair expert to take me under their wing :)

hope you guys and gals can help :)

I dunno much about felting needles but I used a tiny crochet hook, pushed it thru then wrapped my lose hair around the hook and pulled the hook out at an angle. No ripping or tearing, worked pretty well.

felting needles are bad, I used 'm too on my tips, to make 'm round, when I combed the tips out the hair was just broken off. But using felting needles is easy, just stick it in very fast like 50 times at one cm all around the locks and they'll get tighter.

oh the strange sound is hair breaking off :S so I'd say just use a crocheting needle, works the same way but doesn't break off the hairs.

ah bums, i've just bought some felting needles too... the dread i tried it out on seems to be tighter, but now i know its breaking the hairs im a bit paranoid! I just want to catch some of the stray hairs on the body of some of the dreads and make them part of the dread, and maybe tidy up some of the loppys, bah i dont know, im kind of torn between neat dreads and natural looking, i need a happy medium lol
