Inflammatory title aside, is anyone else feeling that the older members of HipForums are more or less all arrogant jerks?

I know that all old people generally aren't like that, and it's making me wonder if the Internet just attracts a certain type of person, like these are the dudes who would've been on-line writing slash fiction and getting angry about Kirk vs. Picard if they'd been younger. Now they kvetch about religion and politics, but it seems like essentially the same kinda thing.

I get that there's arrogant jerks across the age spread, it just seems like much higher percentage of elderly jerks have internet connections. I guess the others are all out vandalising bus shelters and generally walking the streets at night.

I honestly don't see what you see though; since there are assholes of all ages, I get the impression there are more young ones than old, simply because there's more young people on these boards. on the other hand, I haven't seen any other internet forums with this many older members, but "regular" older people tend to be more jaded and unpleasant in my experience.

Um... I thought I made it pretty clear that I don't hate anyone over thirty. I have a problem with people over 30, over 50, over 60 even, who still conduct themselves like they're 15.

The baby boomers put fuck all into the world. They were self-serving, self-obsessed douchebags with no sense of responsibility at all, and now they think the sun shines out of their fucking arses and can't understand why all us stupid poor people don't just become interior designers like they did, like we're such losers for not treating the world like an economic fucking plaground.. People my age are disgusted by them.

Not that this is particularly on topic though. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by turning a thread about how some old people are twats on-line into some kinda "OMG my generation vs your generation WE ARE BETTER AND I KNOW EVERYTHING" tract, but it has gone some way to proving my point. How come, despite my Gen-Y malaise, I still seem to be able to cope with upper and lower case better than your good self?

I also kinda object to the comments about me supposedly frequenting bathhouses. That may have been your experience of sexual self-discovery, "sunshine", but it was not mine.

 

I have no problems with old members here on hipforums... but I do with most of them in life outside hipforums.
