I know I just made two threads at the same time but rather then merge them and get flamed I just made two.

I really want a wool tam, but I dont want to buy one because it wont really be...me...if that makes sense? I want my dreads to be an extension of me and a tam would be part of my dreads. Ive done some very very basic knitting before, anyone know of a quick start to knitting tams :O that would be excellent :)

I think in the Arts and Crafts section, if you scroll down a bit there is a forum that has threads on sewing and knitting.

What do you mean it wouldn't be "you"? You can always get a custom-made tam in whatever colors you want...

Have you knit with double-pointed needles, or just straights?

My favorite hat designer is http://www.woollywormhead.com She has dreads herself, and tends to design for them. Check out the patterns section in the sidebar and click on Rasta's and Berets. I am about to cast on Starburst to knit on my trip out to Seattle.

A great interesting tam that is SUPER easy to knit is this one. I knit it in an afternoon, and it two colors but it looks more complicated than it is. You could even use the numbers in the pattern but make it plain. (Or make it plain and then embroider something onto it!)

If you need anyhelp, LMK. Knitting has been a huge part of my life, and I've been knitting samples for shops and garments for individuals for a couple years now. I love to help people just getting started!
