I apologize if this thread was already dealt with. So you're a trueblue eh? Post all your info on Aussie bands, singers, historical details, trivia, vids, etc. here. Let's see what we make of it. I started listening to Johnny O'Keefe as a smal kid along with my fave American performers like Little Richard, Elvis, etc. Later on I hooked on to the Easybeats and Shyhooks along with Bob Dylan (USA), the psychedelic bands like Tol-Puddle Martyrs along with the West Coast bands from the USA. Then came the lady rockers like Helen Reddy along with Suzi Quatro........the rest is history. Nowadays I'm listening to our The Drone along with Midnight Movies from L.A. And you lot??? I'll be posting more info here from time to time along with images and photos. Soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyhooks
The Drones? Nice one. Shark Fin Blues gives me chills whenever I listen to it. At the moment, Im listening to a fair bit older English music like The Buzzcocks and Gang Of Four, but as for Aus. bands, Im listening to Eddy Current Suppression Ring (really fun, positive garage punk ala The Ramones or The Stooges) and True Radical Miracle (Really fuzzy cutting guitars over amazing growls. For fans of Big Black) both from Melbourne. Im also digging Gazoonga Attack (Riot Grrrrll from Brisbane) and Custard (From Bris.) as well. God I miss them.
Good, we're getting started here! . I love the Drones... a real cool band. Rob Younger and Radio Birdman Rogue Traders
Radio Birdman is quite cool indeed. So are The Saints. One of the most underrated "punk" bands of all time, I think.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Midnight Juggernauts. Not straightforward 'Rock' but a great hybrid of dance and rock. Sort of 'Electro' ...a name that many of the newer eclectic bands are being marketted as (LCD Soundsystem, The Juan MacLean etc).
The older trueblues here will surely remember and appreciate ROLF HARRIS!!..... In the link below, you can hear him cover a Zep classic of classix "Stairway to heaven".....enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy5KjaAS7nY
