If one had a solution of codeine phosphate and caffeine could it be possible to precipitate the codeine from the solution by treating it with a base?Or will the caffeine precipitate with it? Anybody any thoughts on that...i am sure it would help many people out who find caffeine simply smothers the codeine...
The caffeine would come up in the mix, there is a way to take the caff out it's on google some were do you have a problems in taking caffeine?
I just finde the experinece less enjoyable that way.The caffeine can definetley be felt... So you say that caffeine would precipitate with it...the only thing i found on google is the same cwe but done on smaller quantities of water,as i see the solubility of the two it would be pretty hard to separate them that way... I am sure there must be a way to precipitate one of them out,but what by chemical means is a mystery One last queation,could you in any way do something like a cromatographical separation?It could work,and it would not be to complicated,i'll have to research it
paracetamol can be separated and then you can precipitate the codeine i'm not sure if you can get Panadeine were your from this has 8mg codeine and 500mg paracetamol were i'm from, but if you can get it and you would like to do it = here is a way to piss off every mg of paracetamol so you can then precipitate you codeind "100 tabs 1 Dissolve your 100 tabs in about 250ml of cold water 2 When dissolved, mix and let settle in a fridge If the water is cold, most of the chalk and undissolved paracetamol will settle out leaving the solution near clear 5 to 10min 3 carefully siphon off the clear top layer and discard the chalk layer. 4 now you will need to filter it. To do this, you will need to make a simple filtering coulomb. You do so as follows roll up a neat even sausage of toilet paper Make it a size so that it fits fairly sight in the end of the 40 cm length of 20 mm poly pipe. Pour the un-clear Panadeine solution through the filtering coulomb. Collect the clear solution "filtrate" 5 Place the clear solution in the enamel cup and boil it down to about 20 to 30 ml. Remove the cup from the heat and place it in the freezer for a couple of minutes. Upon cooling, a white precipitate of Paracetamol will form on the bottom of the cup. Using a 20 ml syringe remove codeine solution 6 Rinse out the cup and replace the filtrate. Put it back on the heat, this time reducing the solution to about 10ml. This time upon cooling, the Paracetamol will be about half the solution. syringe, remove the concentrated Codeine solution. 7 now get a jar and add 100mls of ammonia , to the ammonia add you codeine solution and 60mls lighter fluid.... NOT butane shake for 5min and then remove the lighter fluid with a syringe let the gas evaporate ..that's it you now have powder or you can just eat the solution from step 6
Well,i saw that technique before but i have a question about it,wouldn't the boiling destroy the codeine? In the mean time i have found what i was looking for.Apperently caffeine is soluble in chloroform while codeine phosphate is not,so if you had chloroform you could just mix it with your solution,stir it a bit and then just separate the two layers,the water-layer containing the codeine.
Well first i have to get the chloroform,and then maybe i will try it.Sure thing i will let you know. But i was under the impresion that you could not smoke codeine,or at least that it is not so effective,not due to it degrading but due to the fact that it had to be metabolized to morphine in the liver.
