LSD and DEATH, an exerpt. You may enjoy this...

  1. I have recently decided to put what I may have learned from LSD into words, and I'd love to hear responses, good and bad, as long as relevant. Please leave religion and your personal beliefs aside and take it for what it is as they will not help. Thank you and I look foward to educated responses. [IMG]

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Do you ever think about death? Putting religion and beliefs aside, since there are many, do you know what really happens? Of course there are many theories and ideas, but what if I was to tell you there is something far greater than you can imagine? Something so simple and scietifically proven? Would you remain unbiased and open minded to take my theory into consideration? Or would you fight for your beliefs and dismiss this theory as one of idiocracy or unintelligence? You see, I've come to a realization that may change your life for the better, no matter who you are.

My whole life I couldn't grasp the concept of...life. I mean, who can ignore the big picture? The answer is actually everyone. You can fill your mind with religion and beliefs, and these are not to be argued, as they help one live a healthier and more meaningful life. But what about the facts, even putting the writings in the bible aside? I recently had a relevation about this life we live, and hope others can remain open minded while I try my best to explain.

Death is something we are all too afraid to question. Most of our lives we spend rushing everyday working and sleeping, and filling what little time we have left with hopefully things that make us happy. If you are one that does not, this may be a revelation for you. What I mean is, there is an end, whether we choose to ignore it or not. Recently a man by the name of Albert Hofmann has passed away. This man lived for 102 years being born in 1906. This man is also the founder of the chemical lysergic acid diethylamide, better known as LSD, or acid. What once was used as a successful learning tool to help those with mental illness, later deamed a drug by youth abusers of the 1960's. "I think that in human evolution it has never been as necessary to have this substance LSD. It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be" -Albert Hofmann.

Before I continue, the now classified as "drug" LSD was successfully used for 10 years before the ban in 1971 by the United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances. Despite the ban, LSD is still a circulating chemical used for recreation to this day. Although many try the drug for the recreational purpose, the educational purpose is not one to be ignored. Many users of LSD find themselves revived or renewed after the experience. Although every human being is different, I have had these feelings of renewal and have benefited from them since. I can only hope others remain openminded enough to understand. Tripping is a noun, and slang term used to describe the experience of LSD. For someone who has never "tripped" before, it is something that cannot be explained fully but best described by Erowid; "In the beginning stages of onset, LSD is likely to cause a sort of undefineably feeling similar to anticipation or anxiety. There is often a slight feeling of energy in the body, an extra twinkle to lights, or the feeling that things are somehow different than usual. As the effects become stronger, a wide variety of perceptual changes may occur; non-specific mental and physical stimulation, pupil dilation, closed and open eye patterning and visuals, changed thought patterns, feelings of insight, confusion, or paranoia, and quickly changing emotions (happiness, fear, gidiness, anxiety, anger, joy, irritation)".

There are two ways you can trip. There is a good trip or a bad trip. Without knowing the differences of each, it is very hard for one to understand how bad a bad trip actually is and how good a good trip actually is. During a good trip, users may find themselves extraordinarilly happy, and upbeat, or laughing til it hurts, or discovering how special human life can be, even finding "God". During a bad trip some users can find themselves more frightened than ever before, they may recall times in life that have affected them greatly, or even thinking like they have never before, which can be very scary for some. Because of the varied effects, there is no question why this chemical is illegal. Despite the legal status, the drug can still be used as a learning tool, in the right hands.

Some people go about trying LSD because they think it is like other "drugs", when it's not. LSD will not give you effects like those of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana, any perscription drugs. LSD is not a drug, or anything like it. There is a naturally occuring chemical in the brain called DMT, or Dimethyltryptamine. Scientists believe this is what causes dreams because the brain excretes DMT in small amounts during sleep. You may notice yourself dreaming more lucidly or sometimes not dreaming at all, this all relates to how much your brain is releasing this chemical when you are asleep. Scientists also believe when you die that this chemical is released 100% into the brain and causes extreme dilation, so the last few seconds of your life feel like an eternity.

Now, while tripping on LSD the mind has no concept of time. Time can feel like an eternity. I relate the LSD experience to that of DMT. Now going back to good trips and bad trips, I can find similarites with heaven and hell, considering that DMT is fully released bringing your mind to the highest level it could possibly reach or the strongest trip you can ever have. Heaven being a good trip, and hell being a bad trip on your way out. Those few seconds of eternity can be either. Imagine the worst feelings of your life, the worst trip, your negative mindset would send you to what most would call hell upon death. Now think of the best feelings, a positive trip, a positive stae of mind, and the knowing you lived your life the way you truly wanted, and thought about others while doing it, then you would have a good trip and nothing to worry about upon your death.

What I have learned and never realized before, is to never be judgemental, never stereotype, never make fun of others. Ask yourself what are you living for? Live for love, live for life, live for positive experiences, appreciate what you have, or even haven't. All your lifes experiences you may relive upon your death, would you want to look back at you living negatively causing your hell? Do you want it to be good or bad?

"It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be"
    -Albert Hofmann, RIP

that was a really great read my friend. it truly gave me a kind of shiver down my spine .

  3. I greatly appreciate your reply goodvibes.

It's interesting, I was explaining this theory to a friend last night who has been there with me on lots of psychadelic occassions and he had a panic attack, I guess it hit him hard and that sent chills down my spine. I told to him it would be alright, just live it up! you know!

Also I explained how we have somewhat an advantage, as we have been through similar experiences possibly and they could be looked at as 'practice' for that day which is hopefully long away :)

    peace/love. i mean it.

Good post. I was pleasantly surprised to find, at the end of it, that you share the same philosophy as me (I got mine from LSD use as well!). I state my philosophy thus: Live each moment in a way that would make you smile if you were lying in your deathbed recollecting your life.

It may just be that you can't put it into words correctly (I still can't) but it seems to me that you have the keys to the universe and you're standing in the doorway. All you have to do now is open it. Just don't be surprised when you're disappointed. It's not really that complicated.

i think this drug in question is illegal because it changes how people look at things. the powers that be love mindless conformity and the fact that people who imbibe in such conformity don't question things near enough. they outlawed acid because acid makes people think a lot. it made peiople question social norms and examine all he possibilities.
but it seems likely that psychedelics could mimic death and out of body type states. thanks for the input snoc.

  8. Thanks a lot for the replies everyone. I want to point out also, immediately after I explained this theory to friends of mine that night, we turned the radio in the car on to kind of calm down and take our mind off this wild possibility, well the song that ironically came on was, 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Greenbaum...

^ that is a possibly, the CIA wanted to use LSD as a mind control device but it does the complete opposite. I am actually starting to think that anti anxiety/ depressents are what they use, not necessarily for mind control, but for suppression. I digress.

On subject could it be that we have experienced death already with complete ego loss?

Damn, I guess Im not allowed to say God, so most of what I have to say is just going to be left in the wind here (and believe me I understand why you would rather keep it on track of science and math without the metaphysics, it's fair enough :) )
So really the only opinion and feel relevant to share is that perhaps, and I may be completley wrong, but perhaps the supposed release of DMT at the moment of death, in fact doesnt cause a feeling of eternity (or a very long time) on it's own, but maybe it allows the mind to completley conquer the illusions of time and space, experiencing what mystics call moksha?
Ok damn I cant do this without getting spiritual so I'll just leave it at that.
Thanks for the good read my friend, your a brite mind and apparently are blessed with a strong sense of observation.
    Namaste!

This is the way i always pictured death:

the moment u die, u will wake up as if from a dream, and the life u live now is just one big trip. and when u wake up, u will be greeted by everyone and everything, asking "what took u so long?"

thats the way i see it...

There's a theory I've heard from my teacher of psychology. Brain releases DMT & it makes your dying pleasant & comfortable, with visuals & so on (may be all these visuals of dying people who were saved put a lot of religious stuff & beliefs in life after death?) but, if you do much LSD, your brain would produce less & less of DMT. So, the death of a drug-user is the worst death ever, since there's no natural chemicals in brain which make it pleasant. Who knows?..

I agree completly with your theory. Choose life, choose joy, choose happines. It takes courage sometimes to say to yourself that you have that choice every single second of your life and that it's up to you what you gonna make from your life. That is the moment when you realize that you cannot anymore point the finger to somebody else and make that person be creator of your misery.
Katinka where did you get that information that taking so much LSD will stop your natural production of DMT? Have you ever tried DMT? I don't know of any other psychedelic being so strong and powerfull.
