I am watching a speech by Bush right now. It's a last ditch effort for he and Cheney's friends to benefit from the working man. I am apalled.

He talks about refining being curtailed but who's curtailed it... the oil companies with their record profits. Because by limiting supply they can demand higher prices. But he wants us to drill in our wildernesses? The oil companies have drilled, and they have capped their new discoveries.

He talks about energy generation but he and Cheney stood by while PG&E sold off generation plants (clean hydro plants) during deregulation and wouldn't step in.

He wants to privatize student loans, why so he and his friends can benefit? So students can be hounded by private companies, like the plastic companies hound many of us and institute their predatory fees and penalties.

He's an idoit. I haven't seen him lately but this is painful to watch. I play poker I know about tells and he's lying all over the place.

    Say NO to drilling ANWR.

Now he's resorting to Al Qaeda/Jihadist fears. It's lame.

I want to be informed. So I will watch.

He wants it up for vote again or why bring it up. He wants permission to drill there. And if we let our guard down they will.

I could have and I did in the beginning, but I was hoping people would contribute as his speech was taking place. But maybe that's why he holds these speeches first thing in the morning when people are either on their way to work, or already there and not able to hear them.

Carl did you hear his press conference?

And you can't delete posts here unless you are mod, only edit. But I do apologize, Bush does that to me. And the only truly politicallly active friend I have works nights and doesn't wake up until noon. So I tend to talk with my friends here until then. Hope you and others here at HF will understand. Will try not to do it again.

My strong believe that our presence in Iraq was originally to ensure that the Hussein regime didn't flood the market with crude to raise funds to rebuild after desert storm; to ensure that the supply of crude is restricted in order to keep the price high makes what Bush is saying to be complete bullshit. The best way IMO to mitigate our so-called addiction to oil, that Bush has paid yearly lip service to in his state of the union fabrications, is to take the subsidies that are being given to big oil and use them to sponsor development of realistic alternatives in a manner that doesn't send food prices through the roof.

Of course, this larcenous administration couldn't be less interested in that. They are aiding and abetting big businesses in robbing us. George Bush is the lackey figurehead for one of the biggest criminal organizations that ever existed.

I agree Stinkfoot. That's how it appears to me. How drilling in ANWR will do anything for the consumer escapes me. It may give the multinational petroleum more leverage over the middle eastern oil companies, but I don't see how it will benefit the consumer. Right now these companies drill and cap to regulate the market price. Peak oil, that's something they feed us so that we continue to allow the practice of taxpayer subsidized drill and cap.

Certainly all comodities have a top ceiling as does the economic market, there reaches a point when growth is no longer viable. All things come to term even the economy and free market. All things have a beginning, middle and end. But capacity is being manipulated currently by market that benefits speculative interests.

Eh, part of the money Americans pay for higher gas goes to Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, and end up funding terrorists.

It's a cycle, so in effect, Bush is also protecting Saudi Arabia, and therefore, also protecting the terrorists, including the terrorists on top of this Republicunt, Neo-Conservative administration. :jester:

This is similar to a board game. :jester:
A complete scam, paid for by the average working citizen and the blood and future of our children.

Seems the magic pixie dust has worked out fine for his oil loving friends, like Cheney and Rice and the rest of his family.

Don't let them rape ANWR, just to increase their profits.

    He says:

But we aren't calling for doing anything about the rest of the world's demand for oil, we want to offset costs in this country. What do they amount to considering only
    our use.

Why all of sudden the renewed calls by Bush to drill in ANWR, last ditch effort to win more goodies for his big oil friends. He keeps telling us we need to build more refineries. Why haven't his Big Oil buddies done just that with their record profits realized during his administration? Or does he want the taxpayers to pay for them as well as ridiculously high fuel prices. Who closed all those refineries so that demand would outstrip supply and the price could be raised? Who caps productive wells? Yet we should stand back and let these unscrupulous corporations drill in a pristine wilderness. I for one am not buying it! I'll walk or bike to work before I let that happen.
