having reoccuring thoughts bout last stonehenge festival, went down there from Reading with my ex g/f lucy and my dealer and his g/f in my Reliant 3/30 three wheeler car which snapped its chassis going over the rough fields. remember waking and seeing gorgeous girl showering just outside my tent in beautiful sunshine hmm tooo much hashcake and red wine (can you have tooo much wine?) ali
i didn't know there was a stonehenge festival ... obviously i've missed something. sounds like a brilliant time! and no, there is no such thing as too much wine or too much hashcake in my opinion.
sorry i should have said the last festival that happened at stonehenge in hmm my befuddled mind ... 1984, http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/henge-history-84.html twas a victim of its own success so .... our tory government couldn't let us enjoy ourselves anymore hence the battle of the beanfield in 85 http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/henge-85.html al
Too young to remember the Beanfield at the time, but here's a poem I wrote around the 20th anniversary. Have performed it at a few festivals as a little tribute.... THE HIGHWAY Manufactured faces, factory-line expressions, cast Their gazes, averting eyes from strangers, Transfer money, gulp their cups of caffeine, Back to work. Cycle repeat. It’s the modern way. But from Avebury down to Glastonbury, On the turnpikes and in the fields, From the festivals and all-night raves, to the circles At the stones; they looked for another life - Stuck two fingers up to Starbucks, And chose, not your way, but the highway! Now you criminalize communities, travellers Ain’t welcome, beat them on the Beanfield, Tell us property’s not theft; well Why do I feel robbed? Criminal Justice? Where’s the justice? Justice for the criminals in the Commons, And your coffee-house bourgeoisie - Is it a crime to want to LIVE? I see the way you live - Manufactured faces, factory-line expressions; Imagination cannot be moulded! Avert your eyes from strangers, You stand alone. Transfer money, capitalism running on coffee, Your stock exchanges spin in circles, I’m getting dizzy - Let me off! LET ME LIVE! I’ll take the highway
