    Thanks.
I wouldn't watch TV nearly as much if my computer wasn't in the living room where my parents are watching TV.

It drove me crazy the few times I had to share my space with TV watchers.

I could never date anyone who watches too much TV, actually.

Just wait until your favorite shows (The Shield, Lost, 24, Prison Break, The 4400) come out on DVD to avoid the commercial interruptions [IMG]

Obviously yours. I wasn't questioning that. It's just the way you worded it made it sound like they were my favorite shows too.
I've been watching scrubs when i'm falling asleep lately. It sucks but I still enjoy watching it. It's weird.

television is a plague upon mankind. the average person watches 25-30 hours per week. that's almost as much time as the average person spends working through the week. that's pretty much your whole life, working, sleeping, watching television, if you are "the average person."

people let themselves sedate by their TV sets, their minds and lives withering away as they watch commercial after commercial inbetween mediocre shows and reality shows. how much could the average television watcher add to their lives if they took all that TV time and did something constructive with it?

television is the bane of my existence. the opium of the masses, eh?

stupid question, but if you hate it, why in the hell do you ever turn it on?

we've got one buried under a ton of dust, litterally. i turn it one once every six months to check out the new comercials. some of which are pretty good if you then wait another six months so you only have to see most of them once.

that sounds like me. i used to watch star trek reruns, and b5, and benny hill, and are you being served, and doctor who, when i lived where and when they were on. the p.e.g. channels when i was docenting at the musium that had cable.

dvd's i watch on the computer went i barrow some from the library or someone brings some over. tapes we have an old vcr a neighbor was throwing out that plays through the tv.

but even when there is anything good on, it takes too much time away from being creative on the computer, and mostly i'd rather be creative myself, then pasively consume the creativity of others. although i do collect photos of odd and interesting to me, places and things off the internet from all over the world, mostly things like walking paths out in the woods, and trains, preferably narrowgauge, passinger, and modern, and little houses and different kids of creatures. mostly anything that doesn't have humans or cars in them, or isn't about humans or cars if there are.

these are i put in the screen saver slide show, there's about 14,800 and some odd i've collected over the years since i've been on the net. i keep backing up the collection ever few months so i don't loose them if something happens to one computer and i have to get another one, or something.

but mostly i like making my own with drafting and illustration software, when i'm not running transportation network sims.

i thing i've got more the a thousand images i've created myself in there too.

all of which i get more out of then anything on the tube.

i like anime too, when i can get it, which without cable, isn't often, and for me, cable just isn't worth the price, except for broadband, if and when we eventually get that if that's how we do.

one of our neighbors has a wi-fi set up, and we could probably work something out where i could piggy back off of that, but i don't have that capability on my current machine.

someday i'll probably get a laptop that does, but for now its just dial up and these forums, and the creative stuff i do off line.

    yes. perfectly worded.

tv is just input, mind numbing non-stimulating input. it is important to have interactive entertainment, so you have to think instead of just sitting there, "pasively consum[ing] the creativity of others."

i think its funny in us how in drug ads u have to say all the side effects. it had me cracking up when i was over there.
