How about that. Everything else aside, who give's a shit who can run the fastest. What about who can think the most interestingly! Boycott the 2012 LOnDoN Olympics 2012! Fuck capitalism and everything else to do with it.
my friend is actually going to china in 30 days for the pre qualify competition or whatever im very excited for him!
You hurt my grandsons feelings! The olympics and sporty things are very important to him. Say sorry, or I shan't give you any dessert!
I'm not interested in who will be the best in any sports at the games, but since alot of other people are I'd say let it be. It's a good event to protest against China's control over Tibet, but to really mess up the games for it is kind of silly.
You have a grandson? Anyway, sorry and best of luck to anyone running, jumping or throwing in the Olympics.
Yes I do I'm Fitzys grampa, and I'm sure he appreciates that ^_^ Now Fitzy, say apology accepted, and offer him to play with your legos
Legos... is that Spanish for leg? Or is it the small plastic bricks where you can build toy houses and cars and then smash them up! Loopy Loo let's play!
competition and contest has always been a driving force in human evolution and development. it is inherently a good thing to push ourselves to the limits of our physical and mental capacity, so we can expand those limits.
That is the neo-Darwinist thesis. Other more contemporary models of life state that its sustainance and survival is implicitly dependent upon co-operation and compassion, not capitalism and competition. Olympic poo bags.
I'm thinking on a physiological level, not a societal one. by improving physically and mentally, we improve the gene pool, which long term will lead to an overall better human race. cooperation and compassion are well and good, but it is in humanity's best interest that we continue to strive for improvement and not become complacent and decadent. hippie doo doo head.
Complacency is not synonimous with compassion and co-operation, I'd say competition was though. To compete is to attach oneself to the ego, and to defeat your opponent. Your opponent is the enemy. The olympics symbolises several hundreds of years of materialism that has emerged from our prevailing mechanistic world view. We must transcend our physical beings, and cast our eyes beyond the horizon into the dawning of a new age.
I will not watch this Olympics as a form of protest, but I like sport and competition and am keeping both in my life whether it be for the benefit of my ego, my health or whatever.
Actually you know, Queen of the South have qualified to play Rangers in the Scottish cup final this year, and if they lose and Rangers win the league, they will be playing the likes of AC Milan and Manchester United in the European cup next year. They are my sort of local team where I come from in Scotland, and they've never won fuck all. Now THAT has caught my interest a bit, but I wont go and watch the match on TV.
I hope they beat Rangers in the final. I don't own a TV and rarely go out of my way to watch a sporting event unless it's LIVE. If I happen to be somewhere there's a TV with sport on, I'll watch it, but nothing actually compares to being there in the flesh, either as a competitor or a spectator.
Well, people seem to like it. I don't understand what the fuss is about, never have, not since my very first football match as a child, Queen of the South as it happens playing St Mirren or Partick Thistle I think! But anyway, I was cold, hungry and bored shitless throughout the duration and never ever wanted to go back. I sort of prefer Goa beach parties, or chilling out and smoking chillums in the Himalayas, that sort of thing. Or a lake in Holland, the one which I am going to now.
I enjoy the good fortune to enjoy both standing in the cold screaming my head off at grown men running around a field and also chilling in the hills. I suppose though, I was raised on Liverpool's football and not QOTS's. Maybe that had something to do with it.
