For the upcomming presidential election in November. Will you, the voting American citizen: a) Vote for a Party other than the Democratic or Republican, a.k.a Third Party? b) Vote for one of the 2 " major " parties? c) Stay home and do something else?
On that day I will find something else to do, it's not that I don't care about what goes on; however, they all kind of suck. I don't really agree with any of them.
im with crazymama on this one. im all for voting and everything. it's a great privilege that people, back in the day, made sure that we could all do. but it's just they all really do suck and i dont agree with them or believe them. you cant really trust the government these days.
Well wow, I thought some of you hippies would go out and vote for a third party. I mean I don't here in Canada because of my career, and several other reasons but if there was a Fascist Party I'd support it, I mean an authentic Fascist Party. One day...one day. Anywho when looking at the U.S. if I were a resident I'd vote Libertarian. There's only 5 parties who have any mathematical possibility of winning, which is kinda sad, although in Canada that is pretty much the case also, we have 5 parties that can gain seats ( although the Greens haven't they will very soon ) and even though the Bloc can never win majority there is also the possibility they could get a minority or be the official opposition, which they actually once were, in 1993. The Constitution Party doesn't seem too bad, but they're overtly religious for my liking. It's important to vote because even if you don't support democracy, you have the power to vote against it, like many people have in numerous countries, Germany 1933 is a very good example, Hitler said he would kill democracy and he did, Mussolini's rise to power is another story, he kinda....just went with his gut on killing the senate etc. Anyway aside from the five parties that run in most states, you will probably have the option of voting for a minute party, which doesn't have the mathematical ability to win but who knows if you continue to aid it. You have to be active, and there's really no party out there that you can agree with entirely, otherwise there'd just be millions of individual parties, there'd be a party for Ted and Fred and Jim and etc The Conservatives in Canada piss me off too, but hell they're better than anyone else, cept the Action Party but they only run in British Columbia, otherwise I'd vote for them.
Fascism, that's interesting. What about it appeals to you? I'm surprised in the results of this poll. I feel a strong sense of duty to vote, in every single election, personally. I do suspect that the president is just a figurehead, and as always, I'm never incredibly impressed by any of the major parties' candidates, but you can't tell me it doesn't make a difference. If you don't vote, that's fine, but in my eyes you are foolish to complain about something if you don't try to change it in the first place, no matter how overlooked and ultimately insignificant your vote is in reality. I will probably vote the Dems. I may vote for Frank Moore, though. http://frankmooreforpresident08.com/
i vote every day by refusing to participate in this joke called 'democracy' however i did not realize that frank moore was running he and i performed together a few times back in the 80s i would be very happy if you believers in democracy voted for him as he is a very good person
You do vote for Independts though right? In many Canadain ridings you can vote for an Independent, and sometimes they win.
It's the only political ideology that can actually be achieved without internal destruction. If you read Mussolini's Fascist Doctrine you might understand.
I might just get Mussolini to explain it to me next time I see him, what with him being the picture of health for the past 60 years... As for "internal destruction", what the shit?
Even if you don't agree with or trust any candidate, you have to vote. You can't think that it doesn't matter! Imagine how different the world would be if Gore had been elected instead of GW. You might say all of the candidates are the same, but obviously they aren't! What do you want-100 years in Iraq with McCain, or ANYBODY else? And, in reality, the only candidate that can beat McCain is the democratic nominee.
Halfway?? Mmmmm, I don't think so. The closest Fascist Nation on earth right now would have to be Singapore ( going to next year maybe ) and if I had to put a percentage on it I'd say 80%. The essential groundwork for a fascist state is a strict and organized justice system, strong education and strong social structures ( athletics etc ) and of course a non-democratic government that dissalows public protest and criticism against the government by the common public. The United States is very difficult to turn into any type of dictatorship because of Congress and Senate, I mean Canada is more basic with just the Parliament and the Senate being appointed. The U.S. has two major structures of government, not one, and it is democratic, 2 party system but still democratic. Plus the Human Rights legislation is hard to work around. If I had to put a percentage on how Fascist the U.S. is it would be around 25%.
i agree with you completely treehuggerT. i was wild about Obama initially but, the infighting among the democrats is disheartening. i vote in every election. voter apathy gave us the "W". some many people bitch about the man and his policies but, where were they in nov. 2000 and 04? most probably doing something else on election day. i truly wish we had a viable 3rd party or libertarian one. i want our young people out of iraq. so i'll hold my nose and case my ballot for the democratic nominee in november.
