I think she is a great artist, she deserves her place in history.

She's 3rd in line behind the beatles & elvis in historical terms I think.

Uh, no he's not. He's third. Anyway, no MAdonna has contributed nothing to the industry besides being a cash cow. She just latches on to current trends to try and appear hip.

Dude, she's not really that interesting or influential, she's just a catchy & successful pop singer and an intelligent businesswoman. Don't get the two confused.

Nah I think she is much more than a catchy pop singer and clever business woman.

She incorporated a lot of different elements into her art, gay and lesbianism, sex, religion, erotic sub culture.

Name a female artist before Madonna that showed sexuality in their videos?
    No one.
Now they all do it, Britney, Christina, Beyonce, Shakira to name a few.
She's also remained at the top for the longest period of time of anyone, The Beatles were only at the top for 6 years (1963 - 1970), Elvis perhaps 20 years, Madonna has been one of the biggest stars in the world since 1983, thats 22 years and she's still relevant and having number 1's world wide. I bet her new album 'Hard Candy' will top the world charts next week. Watch this space.

One giant flaw there. That has nothing to do with the music!

Michael Jackson has sold 750 million records. The Beatles and Elvis have sold well over a billion.

I wouldn't say that being an influence on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilara is much of an accomplishment. In fact, thinking about it that way makes me hate her now.

And yeah, nothing to do with the music at all. In fact, I would say that she is the one who precipitated all of the the talentless sex-sells pop singers we have today, not that she is completely talentless.

Generally I don't like her voice or her music, but that's personal preference. She's got some talent, a lot of attitude and truly knows how to market herself. She's pushed boundaries, but not musically I don't think.

Having said that, the first album I ever bought was True Blue :&

I was young and innocent, that's my excuse!
