The Radiohead response of "Fake Plastic Trees" is so apt... I was at this great bluegrass festival called Mannerland here in the Southeast...We had been getting CRAZY back at the campsite, and were rolling hard into the morning...Barefoot Manner just finishes their 3 hour set... It's 3 in the morning, and the party is just getting started... It's Friday night after all... As all festivarians know, Friday is THE NIGHT FOR FUN... So, I'm rolling so hard and have just had an amazing musical experience. I'm wearing my Hail to the Thief Radiohead shirt... I've just split with my dear friend...She is walking one way... I am walking the other... Fake Plastic Trees comes on over the loudspeaker as the Post Show music... I'm like "WTF?" We are at a Barefoot Manner festival, where bluegrass and mandolin are as common as the bass and drums... And they're playing Radiohead? And "Fake Plastic Trees?" Amazing... My dear friend and I both spin around and walk towards each other, and embrace in a huge, ECSTATIC, I love the hell out of you you crazy girl for putting up with my crazy ass kind of Hug, and we LISTEN. "If I could be who you wanted...If I could be who you wanted...All of the time..." That moment gets more apt as every day passes...I'm so happy in my life... But that dear friend...Ah man...She kills me... OK...Back onto topic... "At Least That's What You Said" by Wilco (AMAZING!) "True Love Waits" by Radiohead (Haunting...) "Lucky" by Radiohead (Chillbumps...) "Guilty" by Bonnie Raitt (don't diss the Diva of Blues... this is a 1972 recording that is older than the majority of the posters on this board. If you haven't heard this, then don't diss dear Bonnie... An AMAZING track... "It'll take a whole lot of medicine, darling, for me to pretend that I'm somebody else." Oh WOW!)
"pictures of you" by the cure "i was the one" by the hoodoo gurus "green" by figures on a beach "the long and winding road" by the beatles "i'll feel a whole lot better" by the byrds there's probably more, i went through quite a long goth phase, and most of the goth songs i loved were sad. (duh) for the record, i love breakup songs. breakup songs are wonderful.
You consider that a sad song? But I guess I could see how you could come to that... I agree with your others though. For me... Queen Jane Approximately - Bob Dylan
