I have just bought a set of captive bead rings, and try as I might, I just can't get the one I opened to close again! I'm going to wear them in my lobe, they are 14g. I've tried and tried to slide the ball back in, but it just won't work! I haven't even tried it in my ear yet! The balls are plastic, could this be the problem?
CBR's are a notoriously huge pain in the ass. The plastic bead should be fine. THe only tip I have is wrap a couple of thicl rubberbands around a pair of needle nose pliers and you can GENTLY squeeze the ring shut withou damaging it. Be careful not to pinch the crap out of yourself. You could also go to a piercer, and they'd probably be willing to put it in for a small fee. Also, you can order special CBR pliers at bmezine.com if this is something you will do often
yea its a pain in the ass. i usually put a towel in the sink to make sure they dont fall down the drain, and also to prevent them from bouncing around when i drop them 1000 times and just keep trying till i get them in.
i started taking a pair of needlenosed pliers and opening them INSIDE the cbr to stretch it a little wider to make the balls easier to insert back in. they fit them up so insanely tightly it's next to impossible to pop the suckers back in. especially with the larger gauges... and dammit, i can't get my 10g cbrs to widen enough to get a fucking ball in. so they're just chillin in my ears without the balls. fuckin cbrs anyways lol! goin' with plugs here on up... shame on me for being such a cheapass i went with the cbrs instead of plugs to begin with!
My piercer told me that usually any auto parts store as a pair of pliars that will work, but you should be able to go on any of the online body piercing shops and buy a pair, they work great. And your piercer should be able to do it, I know mine dosn't charge anything to do it. Those things are a bitch though...good luck with it.
