I just wanted to know how far away we are from legalizing marijuana. have we come any closer or are we still stuck trying to fight for it?

and more importantly, how far have we come to legalizing it for medicinal purposes?

I was watching G4 on 4/20 and I heard something about Ron Paul passing a bill to stop police from arresting people with medical prescriptions. That's a huge start right there, but it's just going to lead to a bunch of people trying to get a prescription just so they can get some weed.

In Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins (I'm not sure about the last one) marijuana has been decriminalized. The most they can give you for possession under an ounce is a 100 dollar fine, which the police usually won't even do. I have some friends up in Denver who say the cops only fine you if you have over half an ounce too. It seems very safe up there in Northern Colorado.

i think illinois is getting closer to passing a medical marijuana deal...if that happens, wouldnt that mean weed could no longer be considered schedule 1 since it serves a medical purpose and therefore penalties for possession shouldn't exceed those of a prescription drug possession....i mean c'mon ppl, how can we be soooo brainwashed that they can ignore facts!! I DONT GET IT!!! fuck

I keep thinking that we'll see legalization as a major issue some time in the next decade, but then I wonder for how many decades people have been saying that.

Yeah, and it's better to get your ganj safely and legally(ish), but what a lot of people see when they look at situations like this is a stoner pretending to be sick so they can smoke without getting hassled.

But yeah, if you can have weed without being arrested, its definently a good thing.
