A couple years ago when I was actively meditating, I was able to get to a point where once I had run through my meditation techniques(visualizing color filling my entire body/imagining all the tension releasing from each body part foot to head/focusing on breathing) and I was completely relaxed, I could get to this place I speak of in the topic.

Its hard to describe it by mere words...but I'll try my best. If you were to close your eyes right now, you would see darkness created from your eyelid sliding over your eye. However, you can definitely feel that the darkness and your eyelid are close to your actual eye(within millimeters). Well when I reached this peak in meditation, it felt like the same thing, except the darkness expanded in ALL directions, 360 degrees. It felt like I was in a space-like room, surrounded in complete nothingness that stretched on forever. It was so "still" and peaceful. I actually even recall sort "transcending" the sounds in my room that were around me when I reached this amazing place, I didn't even hear them, they did not exist. I was in another location, a black realm of peaceful stillness.

It was only in this meditative peak that I was able to have my first out of body experience, but b/c i was young and scared I did not allow myself to fully leave my body. Anyways, I feel this room is the start of where all higher level and spiritual things begin. It is only in this "state" that I'm able to completely shut off the mind and tap into my inner being and oneness.

Does anyone have anymore information about this "state of being" or experience it themselves? I've tried a few times to get back to this "state of being" but did not achieve remotely the same thing. I tend to find myself being distracted by thoughts on and off while doing the same techniques, and can't get past that initial feeling of being of the body.

I believe you experienced the "Void." But I don't claim to be an expert on meditation, so someone feel free to correct me.

It's a theory of mine that this void we experience is our true spiritual essence that's been tucked away by our physical bodies for survival and reproduction. This spiritual essence, the void, is your true nature and true realm of living, beyond the physical realm. It is where you truly exist, meditating merely brings you back to this awareness that it is you who creates and projects your reality, you created it.

umm... i can usually experience this pitch black room feeling ur talkin about before going to bed. :D u can call it a sorta meditation i guess... i lay down on my back and just relax, concentrate on my breathing and slowly but surely i feel all tingly, then all my muscles just relax... then i just kinda end up in this dark space... i understand what ur saying, it feels like im inside the space. im still awake while its happening... i can just roll over or open my eyes, or if i lose concentration i just end up back in my bed. but if i stay for a long time, well i just end up falling asleep. lol

one time it really freaked me out though. i went into this state but when i tried to get out i had to force my eyes open and i was paralyzed! i couldnt move and i couldnt talk or nothing. after a bit i ended up just giving in and closing my eyes and stuff, after a few sec or a minute i came back to... its scary as hell when ur paralyzed.

thanks for the replies guys! Yeah I posted on one other forum too and got this:

So 2 people saying the same thing is enough reassurance for me. It must have been the void(I hate calling it this, the word does no justice to the actual place). If anyone has more information please post, I'm off to google.

I discovered most of the information here:
    http://www.adishakti.org/subtle_system/void.htm

That is correct, as in the article above you can find this quote:
Just different names for the same thing. If anyone has any more information please post, I'm off to check this 8limbs.com site.

Note: I discovered through the 1st link that you only are able to reach the void/samadhi when your kundalini raises in between your 2nd and 3rd chakras and when you can get to a point of thought mastery when meditating. As of now I just plan to do a form of meditation to clear out my chakras and allow my kundalini to rise on its own, and also meditation. Eventually when I'm able to master my thoughts again I will be able to reach samadhi and further connect to my oneness and being.

It's wonderful that you are making such rapid progress.
What you are doing through samadhi is one of the three aspects of spiritual growth the other two are also of course linked to it).
    The three are:
    1) Silencing the mind (which is what you are doing)
    2) Removing all desires (which is what will propel you further)
    3) Knowing the essence (which will come when the other two reach their fullness)

Yes thank you. But the thing is I'm haven't been able to get back to that level. I think it has to do with my kundalini not being in between the 2nd and 3rd chakras. Only a matter of time now though, through constant meditation i will be able to quiet my mind once again.

Can you recomend any meditations though? I'm just using visualizing a blue light filling my body from foot to head piece by piece. If done properly when I get to the head I'll feel the rest of the body as one, once the heads gone im in pretty deep, this is where it occurs.

Yea i know...I learned a lesson there. I started trying her meditation.....then I did more research on her, the surface level view of it looks perfect(the guru is inside you), but when you dig deeper you see the trueness(like people worshiping her as a diety or reincarnation of the holy mother, meditating to her picture, being brainwashed to carry out her biddings, for some reason believeing that she is able to tell who should marry, and how she believes babies who cry in front of her are possesed..etc) Basically my researched lead to back in the days when she began, she saw a guru with a large following, and the guy looked nothing short of amazing, so it sparked the idea in her head "why can't I be one?", so she went off n made her own thing, and preceded to control the masse and attack other gurus..etc

All the stuff about the kundalini and chakras she just borrowed and tried to claim it and incorperate it as her own. I just plan to use regular meditation and kundalini (Hatha) yoga to progress. Hatha yoga has been around forever and its known that through that the kundalini is able to rise

I don't know very much about Kundalini meditation. My teacher is form the vedanta school. He says that we needn't worry about raising the kundalini etc, that just happens in the course of meditation. Regular breath meditation preceded by japa is what I use. And then perhaps you could try an insight technique such Ramana Maharshi's "who am I" inquiry - take your attention to the core of your being, from where all thoughts rise and into which all thoughts disappear.

Of course, this is just my way. If you have a technique that works or you, stick to that consistently.

So far what i have learned personally about my kundalini energy is that you can't force it and you shouldn't try to control it but rather let it develope and happen over time.
What you can do is remove the blocks in your chakras/body that are holding it back (don't know what thats called, prolly some term for it tho).
My kundalini energy generally doesnt go past my throat chakra, so still working on all of this.
    Hope some of that helps,
if anyone has more info about any of this i'd definately be intrested if you want to msg me or post it here
