well im 6 months into the journey and I was just looking at some old pictures on my computer and came across my last set of locks when I was 17.... icky waxy and horrible :/ needless to say that they didnt stay in longer than 3 months coz I didnt wash all that much back then either. I adore my natural dreads and I just wanted to show everyone how different they look to the waxy candles I had in my hair the last time round. here is my last set about a month in and here is my current set , no wax about the same age ( still with some plaits in though)
yeah here is a picture of me b4 my dreadies this is a pic of the curent set of dreadies, about 7 months ithink
dead - head I wasnt doing a before and after shot ( no dreads/dreads) but thanks all the same. The first set of dreads was when I was 17, now 5 years later I know better than to put icky wax in my hair....that stuff really was aweful :/ my hair was so heavy
Hi arlia, your natural dreads are beautiful aswell as you, i bet you feel so much more free letting your hair do its thing!!! I had an awful experience with wax a few months back and then found this place and decided to let my hair start doing its own thing, and have not felt free like this for a while!!! There is no stress with wanting them to be anything but what my hair wants to be!!! x
exactly welcome to another UK dreadhead I just brushed my dreads out in the end, but I had 2 at the back I hadot chop coz they were so bad those are still shorter than the rest of my hair, and remain undreaded at the moment
ooh sorry i didnt really read the post. im a dumbass. but yeah my dreads are natural as well. i did also have a shitty set that i used wax and back combing and they just looked like crap and made amy pillow all waxy. but the new ones are much healthy and less of a pain. i just wash with water. sometimes i shampoo them but thats it. no twisting or waxing, no bullshit. i love my new ones also. ooh yeah by the way your dreads are looking nice and your quite beautiful
hey no worries, you got any pics of your waxy dreads? you can do a comparison too I just hated the feeling of the wax after washing them, they were so heavy adn gloopy
i may ill have to look. heres one.. it looks like a mugshot. but it shows the candles in my hair. there not really dreads its more like clumps of wax holding hair together. i love my new ones with out the wax.
a while ago i worked on the dreads from a friend of mine. he used alot of wax like a week or 2/3 before that. and still the wax was completly in! and becuz all kinda dirt sticked to his hair my hands where totaly black and sticky within 2 minutes!! (he now almost got all the wax out, by showering REALLY hot, but his hair just instantly died.) -and thats why you should never use wax.-
I knew a girl that had put in dreads with GEL. When she cut them this black gunk that smelled awful came oozing out. FILTHY!
I knew I guy who went to a salon, which told him to use orangejuice and wax :S that must smel very bad :S But anyway.. here's my day 1 waxy pic :S I'm glad I washed it all out.. This is when the wax was out.. don't mind the line in the middle :S I let some locks combine, because that looked really horrible ..
You dreads look amazing! Do you find your skin is better without wax then with? One of the biggest worries I had with the wax was getting it on my skin, which made me look up this site. (I have skin that clogs up at the site of any product.) Thanks for showing us the difference! It is remarkable.
yeah my skin was very oily looking, and I could never understand why my back would break out with spots.....dont get that anymore so I guess it must be the wax..... I cringe at the very thought of what they felt like between my fingers.....
