Hi everybody! This is my first time posting, but I've read a few tips on here before. I've had my dreads about a month, maybe a month and a half now, and I'm getting problems at the back as they're all knotting together at the roots. I'm trying to sort it, because otherwise I'll end up with one giant dread. I've been trying to isolate them at the roots and pull out stray hairs, and then I'm going to band them for a while until they're better formed. Any help would be appreciated. They were done by backcombing and waxing them, and I waxed them a bit for the first two weeks. I then stopped waxing them, and now they're pretty much wax free. I was thinking about rewaxing them again though (sparingly) to try and pull the loose hairs that i'm getting into a dread. What does anyone think?
you cant get wax out easily you wilol have to use very hot water scrub like crazy hours upon hours to get it out its evil and the biggest mistake u vcan make now roots no bands take 1 dread in each hand pull away from ewachother ripping them apart leave the loose hairs be they will then become apart of the dread they wanna be in, be ripped again, or become theyree own dread when u tell a dread whicvh dread each hair belongs in your not letting them go where they want they will grab onto other dreads (probly the 1 they wanjna be in) and try connecting them together when u seperate u get fuzzyness thats normal they will tighten up in time and the fuzz by your scalp become new dreads basicly wash wash wash get alllllllllll wax out if u can seperate often.. leave em be
Most of the wax is out now, it's been a few weeks since i touched any and I've washed it a fair few times. The ones at the front aren't doing too badly because I can see them. You reckon the best bet is just to try and separate them now and make sure they don't conjoin so much again? Your dreads are insane by the way. In a good way of course Thanks!
washing for years wont get wax out you need very hot water and scrubbing and picking many find they have to comb out and start oiver or cut after awhile its evil shit theres threads about wax removal if u look around just know its not easy and u have to be very agressive to get ot out yea basicly seperate as u nreed u may need to often in the beginning ..some dreads will combine and ins unavoidable preventing them from combining too much is the only maintanaince becides washing that dreads really need u may find they do most in back cause u sleep on your back too
I read the title of this thread and got worried about the poor person who posted it. I had a set of dreads when I was 15 that I used wax on. When I cut those dreads about 9 yrs later they still had wax in them. Granted, it was only the lower 5 inches but it was there. I am a very clean person, I wash my hair every other day. Always have. Cheers and good luck.
Well, if they aren't backcombed very tight the wax will probably come out by washing. If your locks have matted already THAN the wax won't come out easily.
Shouldn't there be a sticky forum with some sort of title involving wax so people don't have to search and are informed easier.
rip rip rip. And, i used to use hemp string to keep my dreads seperated...use them like rubberbands, except just tie the string onto your dreads
