My hair just doesn't seem right.. I can see the difference in the texture of my hair and how the knots are forming but some parts of my hair seem too clumped up and no matter what I do I'm unable to "rip" them. Even if I was able to, I wouldn't know what the hell I'm doing..

I'm starting to debate on why I wanted freads in the first place, and I don't really want to cut my hair.. is it possible with alot of conditioner and patience to return hair to your previous state?

ok i take it your trying to go natural and you didnt keep ontop of seperating clumps? you have a few rather huge clumps forming?

in the earlky natural process its bedst to feel around often for hairs thart are trying to clump together and seperate 1 clump from another encouraging the dreads to form thinner rather then thicker because the tendency is to attach to neighbouring dreads and form big fat dreads

you can use alotta conditioner and comb out what u got but how bad is it?
how thick is the thickest clumps
can you seperate 1 from another?

yeah soaringeagle I've been on top of my clumps but not much because early on I listened to people saying "just drop the comb and let your hair do it's thing." I saw you keep telling everyone to start seperating clumps early, but it seems a bit to late for that, and their not that bad really but it's very annoying and I have no idea what thehell is going on. I'm gonna try and post some pics this week maybe that will help, either way I don't know what to do.

=/ the thing is I don't know how to seperate it idk where 1 clump starts and the other ends it's all wierd

It's not all one big clump, most of the left side of my head is okay but alot of the right side and back is just a whole bunch of clumps stuck together, there I think that explains it

grab each clump, pull directly away from eachother it will rip the connecting hairs
if you havent donre it much they maybe too tightly attached or might hurt a bit
as u seperate the clumps u can twist em a lil to mnake em more defined and in time they'll start to tighten
if they are way too stuck to seperate...and way too many combined to look good or be confy for ya u can try a lil surgical seperation (last resort) use small bladed scissors and clip the connecting hairs a lil at a time dont try slicing thru alot just clip a lil here and there while still pulling till they do rip apart on theyre own

then once u have em all seperated ..keep ontop of it

maybe add a few beeds to keep them together

I find its much easier to rip apart when my hair is wet too. And try just working at a few hairs at a time.. its less painful that way!

Just in case you did decide to undo and start over, you can save your hair ok, I did! I undid mine after 8 months, and re did them. Im so pleased with my new set.
My first set were backcombed really really hard, and twisted and ripped hard too. I assumed my hair would be wrecked. The knots were really getting tight, but I managed to undo them DRY, WITHOUT CONDITIONER. :D Here's how I did it:

I took a thick, long strong sewing needle and started to gently unpick from the tips upwards. It helped that the tips werent locked up; starting from there was a great idea. It took me about 16 hours to do it, but my hair was absolutely fine!! My theory is that if you unpick it while hair is wet you're stretching the hair and it's more likely to snap as you go. Once the lot is undone, use a deep conditioner.

Haha no it didn't, I haven't been on lately..been fighting with my hair. I can't seem to "rip" because i don't know where to start, it's not just 1 big knot there's many many knots and it's just too confusing. I think I might just put a pound of conditioner in my hair and try to make it back to normal..

pound of knots i good so now try this play with it twisting parts into twisted sections when u have sections started rip 1 away from all others nreear it basicly just grab a chink of hair (feel for naturaly forming chiunks if u can) and pull it away from the 1 next to it
