even if this movie did hurt it i dont think it could do that much damage because the mj clubs are spreading arent they? so its only a matter of time dont ya think?
I hope you're right but I have my doubts. If the anti-marijuana people are obstinant then there's no evidence that will budge them. They'll hear only what they want to. Whose campaign got funded by the CEO of a company whose bottom line depends on there being a test for schools and employers to detect pot smoking? Whose political aims rely on maintaining friction with a country that exports pot to the U.S.? What established industries/pharmaceutical giants would be seriously hurt by the legitimate introduction of marijuana related products into the economy? The United States does not run on a foundation of just laws and a clear distinction of right and wrong... it runs on money... and bending the truth to suit a need. Unless the pro-marijuana movement has something to offer those in power that's better than what they already have, don't expect real change any time soon.
That movie looks like it will suck, sorry. That comedian doesn't know shit either. "Wouldn't it be cool if it killed me." Why would anyone want to watch this movie. Everybody knows what is going to happen, some of you have probably experienced it. I think this is going to be more negative that positive.
but i think that the industry created by marijuana would even things out though. look at this site below if what they are saying is true just for california imagine how much it would bring in nation wide. http://www.druglibrary.org/taxes/
At one level that does make sense but what established and politically connected industries does it threaten? Signing the petition is a very good idea but there's way more that needs to be done. Ultimately the power brokers need to feel their their power and fortunes threatened if marijuana isn't legalized. That's the hard part.
Thought I would bump this thread after just seeing the film. It was designed as more of a comedy than a documentary, but both genres were included pretty well. Doug started by abstaining from pot for 30 days while taking several tests as a base line to compare it to, then went on a 30 day smoking binge in which there was hardly a moment where he wasn't stoned. In the latter 30 days, he took the same base line tests again to see if there were any significant differences....there weren't. Overall a pretty enjoyable movie, without the "in your face" type of information like in the film for which this one takes it's name.
Dude... I honestly wouldn't think that a 30 day documentary on someone smoking as much as possible would be AT ALL entertaining. I mean... After like the first few days of smoking so much, he'd just be outrageously tired(atleast I would...) and it really would just be a guy sitting on the couch, certainly enjoying himself, yes, but no one would enjoy watching a guy sit and have fun. I would expect there to be some extra people in there getting him to do fun things with them. And maybe the fact that his movie would be shown to millions, he may be inspired to get up and do something funny. I definitely want to see this though... I LOVE Doug Benson.
it was funny and good i think it did prove that weed isnt bad the only negative effect it had on him was his lung capacity and memory(but that was while high) and when not smoking for 30 days he had no urges, so its not addictive and he is a lot funnier and happier when he was smoking so i thought it did prove a point and was pretty funny
The site of this movie also had a pretty sweet revolutionary-even screening technique. Anyone could pay 4 bucks plus shipping and they would ship you the movie and you could gather as many ppl as you want and show it on 420. I was almost gonna do it but i wasnt sure how secure the sites store was. First time they would send u a movie for practically free to watch on opening day.
hahah, i hear ya. i'm a smoker. i smoke regularly, and sometimes i do go through binges where i smoke mad amounts. i think this movie would have more of a shock factor for non smokers.
i just rented it. its pretty damn funny. i thought it would be like a real documentary, but its more of a mockumentary. still good though.
^^^I had the same thoughts. It could have been better. Does anyone remember the chart where the guy had 2x sperm count, while ON marijuana? lol.
