    Hey,

I don't know how many of you guys/girls ride bikes but I was tossing around the idea of starting a motorcycle club to ride together. Just a group of folks who meet up, ride around, hang out, etc. If there is enough interest I could get a site up with forums that way people could get in touch with each other/plan rides etc.

I was thinking a good first ride would be to this years National Rainbow Gathering? We could all either train up on the way, or just all meet there then ride out together at the end.

Anyway, Let me know if there is interest.

    Peace, love, and health,

    Al

It sounds good to you in context I suppose. If you just plan on a riding club then that may be okay, but if you want a structured, patch wearing group you may find more than you are willing to deal with.I was a member of an outlaw club for more than 20 years.I am still a rider but believe me clubs are not the same anymore. In the 60s we fought the establishment. In the 70s we fought each other. In the 80s we fought government persecution. In the 90s it was all about expansion and now it is back to fighting one another and based on the greed and oppression that we were rebelling against in the first place. This generation of bikers is about money and power and control over other clubs and riders. They also want the notoriuos name that others have actuaaly earned.

yeah, I know what your saying man. My dad rode with Hells Angles starting in 75/76ish...somewhere in San Fran when he got back from Nam. I'm looking to start a club that does projects/fund raisers/etc. to bring a positive note to motorcycle clubs. I've also ridden with the Outlaw's and Renegades (got out of that scene about a year ago..still trying to lay low...I know what you mean with serious shit man..hence why I moved my family, changed colleges, and moved across the country).

I know what you mean about wearing colors, I think a little discretion would be a good idea ie no huge patch on a jacket etc. But I do think there can be 1%ers who are not negative...while maybe not conforming to the rules of society, can do so without being disruptive towards the same society you know what I mean?

Anyway I'm going to be riding from ohio to San Fran this year in the north and back to ohio in the south this summer it'd be nice to pick up bikes as the trip went...pick up a pack ya know
anyway I'm rambling now..let me know if your interested..and NDN thanks for the advice.

The IBMC is a real club in the truest sense of the word, just a bunch of motorcyclists who like to pitch a tent along with some good people. The campouts are simple affairs, voluntarily organized by members, and the pertinent facts, called Kindling, appear in the newsletters. You look at the list and figure you can make Forsyth, Missouri, for the Shadow Rock Campout, and off you go. You bring your own gear, and something to contribute to the traditional "biker's stew," and the newsletter tells you how to get there, how much it will cost, and who to contact if you have questions. These are allways quite convivial affairs. www.ibmc.org

I remember how gang tough the Angels were up in SF.. I stayed with a branch of them out of Daily City in the late 60s.. I had close ties to the Galloping Goose in SoCali and they were deffinatly a rough group of individuals, many scoundrals and misfits trying to fit in. After Nam when the men returned, a vast amount of them turned baiker and were hardcore and trained to kill.. it got real brutal in the 70s.. But here lately over the past 10 yrs or so.. I have seen a different light in the "biker atittude".. We go to a couple of bike rallies a yr and I don't see the same mentality as yesteryear.. I see them actually doscile, mellow and laid back, no fighting or Tough Guy Egos bashing into everyone... I see them making food runs for the poor and christmas runs for toys for poor kids.. and all kinds of community services.. You never hear bad publicity on them.. well not around here anyway.. I think it would be a cool idea to start up something constructive like that... I hope it works out for you.. Bright Blessings sh
