I know this sounds strange, but you should try putting a screen in your glass bowl. This way, you don't get those bits and pieces coming through all the time, and you can just hit the sucker worry-free. Give it a try. Eventually the resin will make the screen stick and stay locked in place in the bowl. Plus, cleanup is a breeze, just take out the screen and blow off the ashes!
I do this, but only when I have some nice melt-hash... I think bud hits alot cleaner without a screen so I usually always clean my pipes for the cleanest smoke.. I have a few fully-resinated pipes unfortunately..Keep buying new ones just for a new, clean smoke =P
Actually, never heard of that. I always bought glass pipes because they have a carb and they feel and look nice.
glass is better than metal for many reasons the screen comment was me trying to be a jackass... but seriously... i cant stand smoking out of metal pipes or anything that involves metal. Durability... yes... can't really break a metal pipe, but everything else... NO! and a glass screen, huh? would that work really well? seems like it would be real fragile, possibly breaking into a bunch of pieces which then get lodged in your lungs, instead of a little piece of ash
you can get a glass screen for glass pipes, it looks like a little tiny piece of glass w/ 3 things coming off the side. When the resin builds up on it just put that in a regualr pipe or something w/ a metal screen and you can smoke the resin off the glass screen, mine costed me a buck
i hate using metal screens in my glass.. i don't even really like using glass ones either.. the only time i break out the glass screen is when i have some really broken up shake that'll fall through.
i only have one piece at the moment and bud always falls thru cuz my friend chipped the inner circle when he was scraping it so i always just put some tinfoil in there to keep shit from fallin through...i cant use it without even with nugs cuz once i get started it always ends up fireballin bad as shit
yes........ I just rescently experimented with using a screen. I must say I like it!, and will continue using one. Although my bud is sticky and doesnt really need a screen, there was a difference! And It would be good for smoking shake (which I rarely do) and resin balls or resin bowls. Yay for screens!
Na man, don't waste your money on that 420 Cleaner, it's a rip off. Just get some 91% or better isopropyl alcohol from a drug store and some salt. Kosher or rock salt works best due to the increased size. Just put some salt in the pipe, pour in some alcohol, cover, and shake the hell out it. The salt works as an abrasive while the alcohol dissolves the resin. Repeat if necessary. Use a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol if you need to also. A big bottle of alcohol costs about a dollar and it will last for a LONG time; the 420 Cleaner is around $5 a bottle that will get you one/two uses.
i used to use those glass screens on my pipe, but i kept blowing them out cause the only time i would smoke outta my pipe was when i was in a situation where a bong wasn't accessible, so probably like in my car or something i blow the ash out the window along with the screen, cause hey when your faded you don't really remember about the screen and at $5 for 2 screensc it was pissing me off. or when some kid asked to borrow a piece i'd usually give em the pipe cause that's the piece i care the least about and they'd give it back to me of course with no screen
I cant stand not smoking with a screen. They are a must for me. Plus, when your pipe is nice and resonated you can just simply apply flame and take dry hits.
I blow my screen out the window all the time. Like this one time me and my bro were goin to a concert and were smokin bowls the entire way to the place. Anyway, he blew the ash out the window, along with the screeen, but somehow the screen came back in thru the open back window. Then not ten minutes later he did the same thing and the screen came back thru the back window again. That was some crazy luck.
