Actually, all groups of people before that were tribes, the people of which all worked hard at what they were best at, with the ultimate goal of having enough food and clothes for the entire tribe. Also, leaders weren't born, they were chosen; the one person who was best at a certain task was to lead the group at the task in question. So the oldest economical system is actually communism.
The definition of " Rich " is mutable and changes with each new administration in Washington. We will soon see the definition of " Rich " adjusted downward as the new broom will need to raise revenue calling for fairness by taxing The Rich.
It may be possible, but the people who have started from "the bottom" and made it to "the top" are RARE. That's why people are so amazed by them! Remember that movie last year about that man living on the street who worked his way up to affluence. THAT'S WHY THEY MADE A MOVIE ABOUT IT, IT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS! I think it's important to note how rare this transformation is. We all know that the cycle of poverty does exist. Some people do not have an opportunity to help themselves out of poverty. I do agree with the whole intelligence statement you made though. My own father, came from a lower middle class family. They weren't poor, but my grandmother, who was very supportive and loving, certainly couldn't afford to send them to school. My dad and his brother were/are very book smart. They earned scholarships, and have made a much bigger income than they were brought up on. My aunt, however, is more of the creative type and makes absolutely no money. It isn't her fault, she just doesn't posses the traditional book/business smarts that tend to bring people alot of money. ALSO...to the guy who was talking about working 55hrs and goin gto school, not everyone is capable of that.
Upper Middle. There is still a middle class in America. Of course it is dissapearing right now, but there is still a very large population right in the middle.
There should only be suppliers and consumers on that pyramid and there shouldn't be a pyramid; both consumers and suppliers are enganged in a voluntary business relationship, not an involuntary slave-master relationship. The tyranny of the state, religion, and the military are not part of the equation. Sure they're part of a mixed economy, but an aspect of the state-part of a mixed economy not the capitalist-part of the economy.
