    I don't think he's a troll.

    I think he's a racist, warmongering freak.

    Please note the subtle difference.

    Civil?

Bullshit. The racial remarks he made were offensive as hell.

Nah, I would say that Oilman is a troll, for the simple reason that he never posts in peoples threads, just starts ones (which he might post in once or twice) and all his threads seem to be specifically designed to rile everyone up, which they succeed in doing marvelously.

No your wrong. I am a staunch Republican and I state my views strongly. I am a member of the Louisiana Republican Party, LOGA (Louisiana Oil and Gas Association) and API(American Petroleum Institute). I feel that the country is right on track and it is not because of the Oil and Gas because I was still making money capping and shutting wells in when Oil was $9.00 a barrel when Bush 1 was in. The Bush tax cut are working tremendeously and I feel for some who are suffering from the housing crunch but it is not Bushes fault. It is the lenders fault for loaning the sub prime mortgages to people with not so good jobs. Obama will raise taxes 2 fold and really hurt people. He will then disperse that money to a black welfare society that has already put a burden on the working middle class and they will suffer. You have to understand that people who can work but does not are a drain on the economy. Obama will be Afro American centric 100%. He will dismantle our Military and Missiles and cut technological Defense programs that will make America continue to be a world leader. These are thing voters need to remember when going to the polls to vote. Obama is not qualified to be President. As I asked at a Oil and Gas meeting the other day " Name one thing Obama has accomplished?". No one could give a answer.

Yes,you're correct. No national debt.No housing crisis. No more jobs going overseas. No war.Real wages have gone up.Constitution strong as a rock.Unions are many and strong.People are certainly happier than 10 years ago.Republics have stopped their partisan dirty tricks as per Nixon and Gingrich. Our respect around the world has never been higher.Isn't that something?I don't know how I could've been so wrong. Thanks for correcting me.[IMG]

Yeah. $4 trillion more debt never hurt anybody, right?

    I mean, what's a lousy total of $9,400,000,000,000.00?

Perhaps you asked the wrong people.

legislative work on the Illinois Death Penalty, and how he made a difference between life and death:

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/11/12/obama.death.penalty.ap/

His sponsorship of a bill that brought health insurance to 150,000, including 70,000 uninsured Children, again, during his time serving in the Illinois Statehouse:

His work on both the Immigration bill during his time in the US senate and his sponsorship of Ethics legislation (something he did both while in the State House, and in the Senate) that called for some of the most impactful reform regarding lobbyists since Watergate (as he likes to term it):

and his sponsored and co sponsored Bills in the U.S. Senate.......which include worthwhile bills dealing with a wide range of issues, from Election reform bills to the Cooperative Proliferation Detection reduction Act (w/t Sen. Lugar) to Internet database transparency Act.

Sorry to point out your cognative blind spots, (and risk being miscast as an elitist) but "No your wrong" does not mean what you think it means. If you can't be bothered to pay attention to the relationship between your own words and your own thoughts, why should I (or anyone, even you) believe you have any good ideas about all of this?

Dear God . . . just how bad does it have to be before you realize how disasterous the whole Neo-conservative Republican "vision" actually is?

Believe it or not, I agree. It is not Bush's fault. But, as the presumed leader of our nation, he has an obligation to offer a creative response to the problem.

    Fair enough.

Taxes are the bill one pays to keep civilization working.

Those who benefit most from their participation in civilization shouldn't be so Goddamned ingrateful. If you have drawn wealth from civilization, you should do all you can to keep it healthy for all of those who have helped you.

If you identify with your pile of riches more than you identify with your fellow human beings, then you are already suffering . . . no matter what any elected office-holder does. This doesn't give you the right to advocate for the irresponsibility of the rich at the expense of the poor. Without the "poor," for whom your politics is so contemptuous, you would have no wealth at all. You would be one man pitifully trying to figure out how survive, alone, in the wilderness.

Whether you can understand this or not, that is a Racist statement. As such, it is not a convincing argument for anything.

Whether you are capable of seeing it or not, Humanity is a single, unified whole and every human being is worthy of respect. Those who allow Racism to impair their ability to learn this basic belief violate their own intelligence and their own integrity. Those who promote Racism for any reason violate humanity.

Thanks to the Conservative Republicans, there is no safety net for anyone, not even the shrinking middle class. Thanks a lot, genius.

You have to understand that a government that can work but does not is irresponsible.

At the very least, it creates a powerless, leaderless civilization that inevitably descends into meaningless and unnecessary suffering. At worst, it allows for the abuses of power that scar humanity for generations. What are you trying to accomplish?

You have no basis for that statement. Please, try to be more truthful.

America has been a world leader because we offer the world many examples of actual enlightenment.

America appears to be declining. I think it is a direct result of the Neo-conservative, Republican disrespect for any kind of enlightened ideals, thought, language or action.

As the most infamous cave-dweller of modern times has shown, any idiot can destroy, and many idiots (allies AND enemies) will follow him. But it is the creators, the thinkers, the teachers, the peacemakers who are the real leaders.

America celebrates three national holidays that are, essentially, birthdays. One is shared by all of the Presidents, one is an African-American peacemaker, and one is a Jewish religious reformer (Baruch Hashem).

The same answer they might give if you ask the same question about Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Maimonides, Moses, Jesus, Buddha . . . or You.

The Neo-Conservative response to anything that cannot be addressed with brute force is to do nothing . . . and then make a big deal out of not charging you for it.

If you cannot respect your fellow human beings more than you love your pile of resources, then you shouldn't have any power over anyone's life. It is admirable to treat the tone-deaf with kindness and respect, it is patently stupid to promote them to choirmaster.

I am voting for Barack Obama. I hope, one day, you will understand why this is best for you too.

    Peace and Love

Thank You Scratcho. It pains me to see the damage done by those who love wealth and power more than they value love and wisdom. Without any wealth, power or fame of my own, I feel this is one good thing I can do to address it.

There may be more, who knows?

    Peace and Love
