those of you that have had surgury before i got a question.. if youve ever had dissolvable stitches, how long did it take them to go away? i had surgury more than two months ago and there is still stitches poking out. my dad told me to try to pull them out but they wont budge and it hurts like a bitch. it isnt possible to get toxic shock from them, right? will they fall out on their own or should i go to a doctor? sorry if this is a stupid question but its making me nervous
no, its nothign to worry about. a doctor can remove it easily. if its poking out, then your body can't break it down, like it would normally. nothing bad is going to happen
Do not try and remove them on your own! Call the doctor that performed your surgery and ask for advice. More then likely the thickness of the dissolvable stitches was pretty large due to them being from surgery. It is likely a reasonable time frame. There are situations where they do not dissolve, in which case you should see a doctor who can easily remove them. You are not more likely to get toxic shock because of the time frame of stitches not disolving. If you're not experiencing symptoms, which would be obvious (rash, fever, confusion, stupor, organ failure) It's nothing to worry about.
uh... so im not going to get toxic shock, right? i mean i was just fucking with my stitches. and they cant be that clean, what with half of it being in me and half out. sorry i am just really freaking out right now even though everyone in my family keeps telling me to suck it up and quit being a puss. i just reeaaally dont want toxic shock syndrome
What sort of surgery was it? Yes you should see a doctor at this point, it really depends on the thickness of the suture for how long it should take to dissolve. Up to a month I would say. Again, I'm not a doctor. I just play one on the internet. It's nothing urgent.
No, as I've said, it would be obvious by now if you had developed TSS. Most people aren't even at risk to develop TSS. You have about the same risk of TSS at this point as you would from a minor cut on your hand. Not quite zero, but it's absoutly nothing to lose sleep over. You don't have TSS now or you'd experience the symptoms I mentioned.
thank you so much i am just so nervous. my dumbass father figure thing just told me to fucking yank it and now it hurts. so i am just hoping now i wont get toxic shock and die in my sleep or something by the way i had a tumor in my right breast and thats why i had surgury. so i have a fuckin 3 inch scar with stitches hanging out of my tit
yea, i mean, i still had a few stickign out of my knee when i had surgery for a month or so (give or take) they eventually dissolved. i was rolling around and playing in the dirt...nothing is wrong with me. but yea, dont' remove it yourself. the doc will be able to do it. no need to worry abotu nay toxic shock - you just dont' want to rip it out and do damage to where you had surgery and such...infections...
take tiny scissors clip it and pull it out ive removed my own stitches every time i got stitches nothing to it
u gotta clip it b4 u yank iot..lol clip rigfht nextt to the knot ..then grab thre knot and pull.. but u coiuld let it be awhile still
I'd say the chances at this point would be about the same as you developing vampirism and craving the blood of the living.
i just hate feeling helpless. because at this point if i were gonna get TSS there would be absaloutly nothing i could do about it. because it wont come out. i dont even know what to do. i wanna cry!
Well I'm glad you're alright now. I care deeply for your... health. You'll be fine. It's likely that they used much larger sutures and that's more then likely a normal time frame. Just call a doctor and ask. You'll be fine. I promise.
