anyone play any musical instruments? what are your thoughts about playing while high? i´ve been getting back into the groove lately of playing more often. i´ve been playing guitar for almost 12 years, but kinda plateau'ed for a while and wasnt playing too much. I just got a banjo a few weeks ago and that really kick-started my playing. for both guitar and banjo. here she is: so that´s all I´ve been doing lately is playing. I think it´s really interesting to play while sober, then get high as you go, and see how it´s different. i also love to switch back and forth between the banjo and guitar. those first 10-15 seconds are really strange i find that when you´re high, chords and notes have more depth to them. you can really get inside the music and feel it better. i usually wind up grooving on a really simple rhythm or melody and get stuck in it. i also used to play sousaphone (tuba) in marching band (7 years) and getting high really helped with that. you have to do so much at once, it helps to be high so you can just DO it. first off, you´ve got this 40lb chunk of brass resting on your shoulder. then you have to have all your music memorized, all your drill charts (the marching formations) memorized, you have to face certain directions at times, and then there´s the horn-flashes (doing quick movements with your instrument that look cool) and dancing. and the whole time, you have to control your breathing so you can play while running around a football field. i found that it was helpful to learn it all sober, but to also do everything high. at first it was a little hard to do it as well as I could sober, but became easier as i approached it in different ways. by performance time, i wouldnt even think about having to do all that shit at once. i just DID it. so ANYWAYS, what instrument(s) do you play and what are your thoughts on playing high?
I love playing high infact I just had a thread w/ a recording of mine in it http://www.4shared.com/file/43916090/a9e0aff/VCE_001.html there it is again tho. Its just an instrumental I wrote. Seems like whenever I play high I can feel the music a little bit more and also helps me loosen up and improv alot of my parts too. Since I know way to much theory for my own good it actually helps when I've gotta play improv or whatever to be high so im not over thinking technical aspects or whatever... I just feel it instead.
I love playing high. I play alot of instruments. Guitar, Bass, Trombone, Piano, Banjo (not that well), Trumpet, Tuba, Euphonium, Drumset. I love just picking up my guitar and just messing around with scales. I am trying to learn the acutall pentatonic scales so I can transpose them to different instruments other than guitar.
Everything just seems to come more naturally and it just sounds way better, especially if you have nice instruments, because literally anything will sound incredible on a top of the line guitar, and thats awesome.
http://www.gosk.com/scales/minor-pentatonic-scale-for-guitar.php minor pentatonic modes. Since there are only 5 notes in a pentatonic scale there are only 5 modes unlike lets say your major scales where there is 7. There are a few other ways to play the pentatonic scales but those are the popular ways.
i play bass guitar. i generally whack some music on the speaker and then play along to it, improv some wierd solos. everything just FEELS right, you can just switch off and let the music guide you just dont think too much and it all seems to work. i generally play some beatles or rolling stones, i find come together by the beatles works really well.
my friend and i jam all the time stoned. he plays guitar, i play drums, but yeah, we can definitely connect with each other easier. When i'm high, i feel like i can "speak" through my drums or bongos.
I've played the guitar a couple of times, and I really suck high. I feel way too slow to play anything more complicated than a few simple chords. Sounds good though.
I like playing high but I sometimes get frusterated because I have this melody all figured out in my head but my physical playing is so bad I can't ever acheive what I want.
I'm a drummer and playing high is definitely something I enjoy. I remember some of my first times getting high during band practice I would have so much trouble remembering the songs (this was around the time when we first started the band). We had this recording session this one day and it took me soo many tries before completing this one song.. I would always mess up on dumb shit. Over time I got used to it since I would get high with my manager every practice, but now I only play high alone. As fun as it is, I like to keep a sober mind as much as I can when I'm with my band.. since they don't smoke. I play brass. And I love going to rehearsal ripped. Listening to the intricacies of the music and all of the awesome things a composer puts in. Pep band gigs were best when I was ripped. But playing jazz is hands down the best. Sometimes myself and a few friends jam on some jazz and its fucking awesome. We probably sound like shit but its so fun. Oh yea, I play trumpet.
i play the guitar, yea its fun playing high but i really love playing on shrooms. i like to play the pretty stuff when shrooming, because everything sounds so perfect. its really fun if your shrooming with people who dont know what all you can play and then during the peak just bust out some andy mckee. ha that is really fun for me.
i read this and then had to google "andy mckee" to find out who you were talking about. when i saw his picture, i immediately thought, "oh... THIS guy!" then i watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt1fB62cGbo fuckin' nice... i wanted to start a thread about playing instruments, but decided to search for one first. i came across this thread... which I started.... about playing instruments.... that was over a year ago, though. anyways, i started playing the banjo ukulele (aka banjolele) about three months ago, and it's the funest instrument i've ever played while high. it's just a blast in general. knowing guitar and banjo makes learning the ukulele super easy, too. even the saddest song sounds happy and upbeat on the thing. here she is: http://www.goldtone.com/products/details/w/instrument/83/Banjolele speaking of... i'm gonna go strum for a little bit. anyone else play the uke?
