    Hello all -

Looking to go camping in the Chicago area with some friends for a few days soon. We need to stay up to around 3.5 hours away. We're hoping to just enjoy nature - hike, build campfires, swim (if possible), maybe smoke a little. Maybe even do mushrooms. However, we're worried about Johnny Law on our backs.

Can someone recommend us a few places to try? MI, IN, IL, WI -all that matters is that we stay within about 3 and half hours of Chicago.

    Thank You!

The BEST place to camp around here in my opinion is the Mississippi Palisades State Park in Savanna, IL. From Chicago I believe it to be about a 4 hour trip. It is absolutly gorgeous there and there is alot of history that happened in that area also.

    Check it out:
