If I promised to give you a new computer after you wait an infinite about of time, would you ever get the new computer? What can you conclude from your answer?
Yes. Mainly because time doesn't exist, so everything is occurring in the same moment. The wanting and recieving in the same moment. If that made any sense what so ever. Didn't exaxtly explain what i am meaning
If time doesn't exist, then how is it that you answered my question after the fact rather than before? I guess I'm a bit confused on your point of view.
It confused me also. Mainly because i can't put into words what i mean. What are your thoughts on your question, Zhyppers?
I am a bit of a scientist/mathematician. I am one who takes the assumption that if you can sense something, it's probably there. Now, I know for a fact that with the math classes I've had under my belt that Infinity is a concept but not a reality. Something can get bigger can bigger, but it can't be so big that nothing is bigger than it. When talking about a waiting time, you could wait five billion years, but I could always say that there is a five billion and one years. This implies that the time you need to wait will always be bigger than the time you have waited... or that one would never receive the computer. If I apply that to this moment and the past, that implies that time before this moment is finite because if it were infinite, how would this moment exist? Don't get me wrong. There are certian things in the Sciences that tend to jump from place to place without traveling which, to me, says that these objects are not bound by time, so not everything is bound by time...which, most of the scientific community would shun me for speaking of such blasphemy, but right now if an electron is seriously preforming such an action as "instant transmission", what other options does the scientific community have?
My answer would be no. I would assume that the person asking the question had no intention of actually ever giving me a computer. Instead, I would view his/her query as more along the lines of "What if our entire universe were a speck of dirt under a giant's fingernail?" - OR - "What if there were an entire universe within a speck of dirt under YOUR fingernail?!" Definitely fun stuff - for a certain age group and providing the drugs ingested are of a mid-range or higher quality. However, it's not really of much use in applied philosophy. Peacelove, Aldousage P.S: Don't get me wrong. There's NOTHING wrong with philosophical contemplation for its own sake. You could be doing much worse with your time.
"If I promised to give you ... " promise to give me that computer !! will i ever get that computer ? i don't mind waiting . i can't even begin waiting until you promise me a computer . all i will do in this life is wait , which of course is to do nothing . time is only measured by actions . i conclude i shall cancel the word if so that all relationships are direct and non-conditional . otherwise they are non-relational . . .
