Europe has many beautiful places. Rome, Athen, Amsterdam, London, Paris that´ s all not too far away. Moscow and St. Petersburg I don´t know yet.

The most popular destination nowadays for vacation of most Germans is the island of Mallorca. In former times it was Italy, and Germansy greatest poet Goethe wrote a famous poem "Kennst du das Land, wo die Zitronen blühen" (You know the land, the lemons blossoming?) A parody on fashist Germany was "Kennst du das Land, wo die Kanonen blühn" The Country, where Cannons are blossoming)

My own favourite for vacation is Flander, and the towns of Ghent and Brugge are really very beautiful.

What's in a name? Not much, usually. But picture Russian nineteenth century pioneers, opening up mines and farms 8,000 km (5,000 miles) east of Moscow, in southern Siberia. And what do they call their village? The Church of the Annunciation, Blagoveschensk.

What was the Annunciation? In Christian mythology it was the message of the angel Gabriel to Mary, telling her that she had conceived the Christ. Of course this must have happened on or about March 25, year 0 A.D.

Today Blagoveschensk is a mining and agricultural center of 219,000 on the Amur River, with China on the south bank. That is, a little smaller than Anchorage, Alaska, but larger than most Canadian cities north of latitude 50. According to Wikipedia, relations with China are currently good, and there is a local free trade zone.

So, this Siberian city with the intriguing name is someplace I'd like to visit, not for any real good reason...

I'd like to see the Pyramids again.

I came down the Nile with my father one year to deliver a load of our grain to those who were building the great Pyramids. They took all that we brought them. We all marveled at what was rising from the desert floor. Surely it was the work of the gods themselves. I was of Syrian lineage then.

But that was a long time ago. :)

    Several thousand years, apparently.

I'd like to be all over the place and see it all. But living with one of the last few indigenous tribes in the Amazon who still live the way they did before the Europeans came would be particularly amazing.

I think typical honeymoons are kind of boring.
You could also take the chance to go to Peru and have a sip of lady Ayahuasca as well, that's another must do for me.
