Any detox/cleanses that actually work?

I'm looking for full-body internal detox and cleansing. Suggestions? Testimonials? Horror stories?
I've tried a couple in tea and pill form, and have even taken chlorophyll. Never felt much different (though chlorophyll was sort of effective).

Are you talking about colon cleansing? Try the paraway pack. My mom uses it.
I don't know if any of them actually work though.

I mean all of it. I've heard of full body ones that do the lymphatic system, the intestines, the arteries, candida, etc. I tried one once, but it didn't do much as far as I could see...
Thanks for the tip, though. That's one down. :)

I'm not sure what to recommend, but DON'T use Smart Cleanse. My boyfriend and I both got violently ill after the second day. It may be okay for a large man, but as a woman or smaller person I definitely wouldn't use it. Way too strong.

fasting works best. only if you have no major health problems though! i fast two days (48 hours) each month. about once a year i fast between 3-5 days. all i consume is water. some people use teas, others add lemon to water and/or teas, and some drink a mixture of apple cider viniger and water (YUAK!) to come off of a fast; drink and/or eat a little fruit. (not too much though!) i have found that fasting seem to be too much for alot of people. if you want the colon cleanse, the 3-5 day fast does that. at the end of the fast all i'm shitting out is clear water, and peeing clear water too. one thing i think is not too smart though is, i have heard of people also giving themselves enemas with things like dr. bonner's soap to (clean it all out.) i most highly recommend AGANIST that! if you do that, just use plain water and nothing else.

a brown rice diet is one hell of a great ideal! that is allmost all i eat grain wise is brown rice. there is one draw back with it though. your still feeding the cells of your body, so your still not getting a very good cleans/detox. only fasting provides the best cleans/detox. only when fasting does all the cells of the body empty out to a high degree most toxins. sweating is another great way to get toxins out of the body. exercise is best for that; something like walking, or running. yoga is great too for detoxing; it's a form of self message.

Wow, guys, thanks for all the ideas!
I was almost expecting something scary like that cayenne pepper and lemonade thing. Sounds wholly unappetizing to me... :puke:
I did a fast before... It was the Hollywood diet (LOSE 10 POUNDS IN TWO DAYS!!!), lol. Lay offa me, I was young and stupid.

Is that what the Hollywood diet is? Just fasting for two days?

Oh, also, if you'd rather do a kit than fast, you may want to try GNC's (company-brand) internal detox. It's a 7-day and super gentle. It was my first experience with a kit and I felt great afterward.

Kind of... it's this pre-bottled juice stuff that you drink for two days, but you can't eat with it or it doesn't work. I disregarded this for the last hour and had a small amount of macaroni and cheese and had horrid stomach cramps afterwards.

    Yeah, wouldn't recommend it...

I actually had great luck with the master cleanse. I had trouble with the cayenne pepper though...I could only add a little to each drink, and even then, I gagged every time lol. It was definitely the 10 most difficult days of my life, but it felt so good say I accomplished it. I really think the smooth move tea and salt water make a huge difference (not to be vile, but there really was a lot to be cleansed....even after 8 days or so). By the 7th day I felt more awake, both physically and mentally than I ever had. My skin was radiating (I think this has a lot to do with the amount of water I was drinking though), and I was overall just happier. lol I also lost 15lbs, but for those who don't need to lose weight, thats not the effect you are going for.

I'm not sure I could do it again though...the thought of maple syrup now makes me nauseous. So, I'm curious as to what some other, less intense cleanses are as well.

Oh boy... lemonade... hate it with a fiery passion and will definitely vomit if it passes my lips.
Thanks anyway, but I just don't think I could for that period of time...
    Love cayenne pepper, though...

that why when someone comes off a fast, they need to drink and/or eat a little fruit (and i stress, JUST A LITTLE FRUIT!) fruit is easy to digest. eating some grain (macaroni) and dairy (cheese); that sure would make someone comming off a fast sick allright! dairy is really irritanting to the stomach. the exception to that would be yogurt.

I am on a juice fast right now (day 2) and it is def working. My throat hurts, my ears, I feel like crap. I know I will feel better in a couple days though. I am juicing my own fruits and vegetables.

I was only on it for less than two days and it was only a teensy bit of the homemade stuff... like two tablespoons. Are our bodies really that touchy??

Oooooh I did that once... started getting early signs of water intoxication and got kinda scared... Thankfully they didn't go beyond a headache, dizziness and a little blurred vision.
