    Hey,

Recently i have experienced on and off aching discomfort in my back(sometimes lower, sometimes neck region)

I know this could be due to a number of reasons, posture etc

however whilst doing yoga. specifically when rolling forward to a sitting position after a shoulder stand i feel very aware of the vertebrae in my back.

does anyone have any idea if these two things are linked? or if backpain could be related to any other yoga practice.

    i practice regularly

Isn't Yoga (with proper technique) supposed to help with back problems?

Have you noticed improvement in your pain since you started Yoga?

I've got some Back Pain myself and it's actually a big reason why I started doing it. Still a noobie though so I haven't had time to judge it's effects on my back yet.

Depends on how limber/fit a person is. I suggest seeing a chiropractor. It helped me a couple times.

Go and see a physio, it maybe just muscular in which case the pain should decrease as you get stronger, but if its a problem with the discs in the spinal cord or the nerves then this could become serious if you dont get it seen to.

Tell your yoga instructor and take it easy on any back bends and twists where you feel the pain. Back problems can be very hard to fix so be careful and dont make it worst.

Hey thanks for all the advice

ive reaxhed the conclusion its probably bad posture (working on it).

Yoga, as with running actually tends to alleviate any pain, or direct my consciousness away from it. So I'd advise it sonik

    take it easy

Cool, I thought running can mess up your knees though?

haha indeed, but those are some seriously crazy side effects. Wacky!

I do an hour's worth of Hatha Yoga every other day. Just use this beginners dvd I bought. Nothing to crazy yet! I've never felt bad from doing anything, only good, so I guess I'm doing it right. lol
