The first time I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original version) The Exorcist, and Scanners on Video I was scared shitless, but the last time I was actually scared at the movies was back in 1986 at the premier of Aliens [IMG]

The first Jaws movie actually scared me. If I remember rightly, you don't even see a shark for about the first 45minutes but the atmosphere and the muxic did the job.

Are you trying to say that I'm like your ...

I just thought of another movie that scared me a lot as a kid, The Omen. I always thought that Damien looked remarkably like gordon power from my school and became very wary of ever pissing off that dude for years.

yeah i would have to agree. All the scariness is computer generated and not scary at all.

1408 was the last good scary movie ive seen.

I actually enjoyed Omen II more than the original Omen, but IMO the most fucked up moment in horror movie lore was this scene from Scanners [IMG]

After horror director David Cronenberg moved on from his repressed sexual fantasy phase (The Brood, Rabid, and They Came from Within) in the later a parasite causes uncontrolled sexual desire in the infected. He moved onto more graphic violence and extreme gore [IMG]

it's not so much the exploding head effect, i'm so jaded now, it's the squealing noise and the look on the guy's face.

Well he did volunteer to be scanned, and was told beforehand he might experience a slight headache or a nose bleed [IMG]

We’re so desensitized to violence nothing short of complete depravity will raise our ire and scare the cockles of our hearts [IMG]

i think it's pretty good as far as the general storyline and the imagery. the imagery is brilliant, i'd venture to say.

particularly stunning and memorable, i was probably most freaked out by the scene with the horse when i first saw it.

i dont find it to be a very scary movie though. pretty dang creepy though.

in my personal opinion, though, the shining is all anybody really needs to know about horror movies, or even movies in general....
