That pic of Hoopa is great. What a view. Enjoy the new job. It sounds like something you would really like to do. And as Benny Hill would say, we'd love to see you running through the woods with a bear behind. .

well i'm a Wildlife major... and I have been volunteering at Hoopa, working on ringtails all year. so i've put a lot of time in. plus i have other wildlife experience. Sarah! that's so awesome you're moving to santa cruz!!!! You are going to LOVE it. you should come up to humboldt and visit me! or maybe i could coem down there. that woudl be sweeeeet, we should go camping. i have facebook-send me a PM and i'll give ya my name. hahaha and yes, guns and sex in the woods is a perfect combination.
well, technically i am killing bears. but i'm also kind of saving bears. basically, there are problem bears which strip trees and eat a layer of the tree called the cambium. this ruins the tree, so it cannot be used by the Hupa people for forestry practices. the Hupa tribe gets most of their money from their trees. we trap bears to find problem animals (you can ID them by their teeth-the teeth are very worn down on tree-stripping bears) and kill them. if we didn't find the problem bears, the Hupa would just kill ANY bear in the area to save their trees. its kind of a complicated issue, but interesting... yes bears are dying, but we are saving the lives of many others.
Wow. Sounds like a really intriguing job, though I'm not sure I'd be able to handle it. Kudos to you. Glad things seem to be going well for ya.
That's what I was going to say. My window of opportunity has closed. Just be aware that I thought a naughty thought about you and salmon. And river.
