This show is something of an anomaly as they aired it early because of the writer's strike.

Not bad so far. 10 previous castaways plus 10 hardcore fans of the show.

Tonight is the second episode. The fans have the upper hand so far, winning the first challenge.

What, no one else is into Survivor? I love it.

That big guy is smarter than he looks, huh? But my favorite of the "fans" is that long-haired kid who's good at swimming; he's doing a great job of staying under the radar.

I think Yau Man's alliance looks awfully strong. Pavarti's alliance is kinda full of idiots - they didn't think things through very carefully.

Well, that tattoed caveman got broadsided. Deserved it too. Too predatory on the weak.

Wow, everything I thought back then was wrong.

Caveman turned out to be not as smart as he thought he was.

Cirie is still calling every shot! She's completely run this game so far. She's overplaying, though - she'll get hers before too long.

I watch very little TV. This program appealed to me because it's an interesting study of how people behave outside of established civilized boundries.

If you don't have those, you have to wing it the best you can. You're given a tribal structure and the rest is up to you.

You shouldn't have to explain yourself or why you like survivor...

I am having trouble getting into this survivor, I don't know if I waited too long to watch it or what, is this where they have fans versus the favorites? Is that grave digger guy still on there, what is his name, this is going to bother me...

His name is James. Or you can call him "The guy I want to lick all over," if you're anything like me.

I love this season...I really like a lot of the returning people. James, Ozzie, Amanda and Cirie. Of the new folks, the guy who can swim real good and the really cute hippie girl are really cool.

James, that's it, thank you because that was starting to bother me... I was sad that he didn't win last season, and he was so nice about it too...
Cirie was another I liked as well, hope one of them wins..

I don't think James is sinister enough to win, unfortunately. He really thinks he'll be okay if he just makes an alliance with some people who seem nice. Maybe he'll prove me wrong this season, though. Fingers crossed. He's funny, isn't he? He's really smart, but the kind of betrayal you need to win...I'm not sure he has it in him.

I love Cirie. I think she got as far as she did the first time around because no one realized how devious she is, and this season the cat's out of the bag. She's trying to adjust by being the person who's so evil everyone wants to be in the final three with her, which is a good idea but I think she might be overdoing it.

Cmon, it is called Survivor. Has anyone ever died not surviving? NO, because it cant be. Which means it is all staged. Not worth my time at all.

Zilla, you don't have to watch it.

I watch it for the personality games; it's really interesting seeing how people manipulate social situations to try to stay in the game. I think social interaction is fascinating, and the show's actually a cool window into how parts of it work.

So, how's it looking to everyone? Who's playing well? I've been really impressed by Parvati, surprisingly. She's annoying and slutty, but she's making some incredibly smart moves.

I’ve not been seen the show – but think it’s probably a templated production, made up with boring people cursing, thinking the World owes them something and hurt because they are so hard done by !??

"Survivor" eh? - Is the title awarded to the person who is able to sit and watch this form of tedium all the way through to the end of the series?! – You say it has been put on "because of a writers strike - I think that says something other than it's good TV (?!)

Where are the creative and more productive issues? for …goodness, sake!

I can think of better things to do!

Doesn't it seem a little odd to judge it without having seen it, Billy? I mean, I can certainly understand choosing not to see it...but why on earth would you go onto a thread about it to judge people who do watch it?

Just weird to me that a guy who signs his posts "Peace + Love" would enjoy disparaging people's taste in shows, much less without even having watched them.

Well actually Molly, although I've not seen ‘Survivor 2008’(and have no idea who James, Cirie, Pavari..are) I have seen bits of similar, and found that type of show to be dull and uninteresting.
Whether it be, Survivor, Castaway, Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity whatever – they all seem to be the same and "not for me". I was making comment on the content which; following editing, seems somewhat particular to an editors choice (unless its live – I’ll stand corrected) and not of the viewer, so I’m sorry if you felt offended, that was not the intention and hey! that only my opinion, - which I gave because I thought the threads were for? expressing different perspectives on matters(?) - (similar to
Zilla + Blackcat) I’m probably wrong! It is perhaps a very educational and enlightening Programme, full of character assessments, images of human behaviour pushed to its’ limits in precarious situations and team/individual bonding that triumphs over adversity.
I’m sure it is an iconic piece of television which will be remembered.
I hope you continue to enjoy it (and I still say)

Well, I think it's entertaining. Who cares if it's not educational, enlightening, or even very "real"? It's just for fun. Have people forgotten what that is?

Personally, I can't stand Cirie. I don't know what everybody sees in her. She sucks at everything except being bossy. Love Ozzie-he is amazing, especially in the water.

I like Cirie because she's good at manipulating, and I think she's funny. I like someone who's there to betray everyone and just doesn't care. So yeah, I kinda root for her a little.

Ozzie's just freakin' amazing, huh? God, I would let him do all kinds of things to me. [Pause while I fantasize about a James / Ozzie sandwich] Ahem. Okay. Anyway...weirdly sad to see Eliza go. Hated her the first time around, but I kinda grew some grudging respect for her this season.
