help me please!!!!!could i be pregnant???!

like i said on my other post,iv been on marvelon about 2 weeks,i was told by my doctor that if i start the pill on the first day of my period i would be fully protected.after reading some posts n browsing the net,many people say you should use extra protection for upto a month,i started having unprotected sex straight after my first pill!n i dno wether the sickness and stomach pains r because i dnt agree with the pill or wether i cud be pregnant??
what are the chances of gettin pregnant on the pill?and would i have these symptoms so early if i was pregnant?

As for can you be pregnant. Yes! Birth control does not protect you from the first day you take it. Take a pregnancy test and read up on the pill.

take a pregnancy test about a week or 2 after your missed period...
but, be warned, birth control fools your body into thinking that it's pregnant, so if you have some symptoms of pregnancy that could just be your body freaking out.
And you should wait at least a month after starting the pill and taking it regularly to have un-protected sex.
AND, what a lot of people don't know, if you miss a pill, say you miss it on monday, on teusday you need to take monday's pill AND teusday's pill.


try to buy a good pregnancy test, and remember 1. your period gets all screwy on the first month of birth controll and 2. it is more common to have a false negative on a pregnancy test than a false positive.

The clinic I go to told me One week...and thats what the information with my pill said. Read the info that comes with your pill.

 

starts taking effect after 1 week
takes about a month to be fully effective though, if i remember right. something like 70%+ effective after 1 week though.. i think. been on it forever, i forget my initial conversation heh.

 

marvelon was the 1st pill i used and my doc also told me if i took in on the 1st day of my period i was safe from the get go. now i dont know if that is correct after reading the posts here, but i didnt get pregnant.

when going on both marvelon n microgynon i was told i was protected from day one,looks like that information was wrong!

How long ago did you have sex? That will help desided rather they are prego symptoms or the pill. But if you just went on the pill...Im going to say thats what it is.

 

iv been on the pill for 18 days,started taking it the first day of my period,iv got 3 left in this pack.iv been having unprotected sex since i started taking the pill n the symptoms about a week.if i use my last pill on sunday, when can i take a pregnancy test if i dont get my period????X

 

Don't even worry about it until your period is due.
There is nothing to do or know till then.
The pill does weird things hormonally ,often including the same/similar symptoms as pregnancy.
If/when your period doesn't come when it is supposed to , THEN test.

 

You can test a week after you miss your period (about)
You could go to the clinic and talk to them that would ease your mind
They will also test you if they feel that you need to be.
That would be your best option

 

i will say that when i went on the pill a year or so ago, that it stuffed up my periods and also gave the similar simptoms as if i were pregnant. like i allways used to get my periods towards the end of the month now i dont know when i'm gonna get them cos i get them when i ever i finish the yellow pills and go on the white one wich make me have my period... another example is that people say that if a girl has enlarged breasts, thats a sign of pregnancy. i get that, but that also means my mnthlys are due too... i take levlen ed. its worked for me so far like there have been times when i've forgotten to take the pill for a bit but i have never gotten pregnant...

OK, now it depends on the pill, generally if you take the pill on the day you finish your period you will be covered, this is because it starts change the biochemistry immediately and sets the standard, this is how the pill works. By changing the biochemical balance of your reproductive organs physiological effects are manifested which results in a far far reduced chance of conception (somewhere between 97-99% depending on the method) also bear in mind this discrepancy is a legal move whereby if the pill fails for some reason you cannot sue the pharmaceutical company. Also you may be entirely protected but not at all this depneds on your own body's personal reaction. However the bottom line is you will be protected if you take it on the first day of your new cycle, most pills work like this.

Secondly nausea, stomach cramps, increased hunger, swelling around the lower stomach and the like are side effects of your body becoming used to the pill, these will pass with time so dont worry. If you feel you need to take a test but you should be fine.
