Never been in one but I've read about them quite a bit. I read in his autobiography that nobel prize winning physicist Richard Feynman did it frequently because he was obsessed with the idea of hallucinating but afraid to try acid. There was also another notable scientist whose name escapes me that used to eat a bunch of acid before going into one. From what I hear they work but I cant imagine it being too fun. That's just me though.

like the ones with water... its even better in a big tub with all the lights out except for one candle off in the distance flickering.... then a big bowl

i think you can go to www.wheretofloat.com or google where to float to find a list of places in your area where you can go to use their isolation tanks.

I've never done it, but I've heard good things about it. You don't even really need to take drugs to have a pretty intense trip. I've heard Joe Rogan say that it takes a while to get used to feeling nothing and letting yourself go...but once you do, you can get back to that level easier the next time you try it (you might need to go like two or three times before you get good enough at it).

If anybody here ends up doing this, let me know how much it costed you...I've been thinking about it.

Ever seen the movie "Altered States"?

It's pretty much all about it. Pretty damn primal too.

I've been fascinated with the idea ever since.

I started to watch altered states but fell asleep within the first hour the other night, but that was what made me ask.

And for what I read at the link I'd have to go 4 hours to go to a place with one =/

i am planning my next acid trip to be a sensory deprivation experience. I wish I had a SD tank but i'm going to use a slumber mask and earplugs and begin the trip around eleven at night. i'm curious about what i'll experience with no distractions.

after getting adjusted at the chripractor yesterday, I was suddenly much more oxygenated than before. so when I laid down and closed my eyes my acid vision came back . since my brain had more oxygen flowing to it, It was more active and I was having some bonafide visions. they started as small visuals and as I let go of myself they would become epic adventures to far away places. chiropractors kick ass. so does lsd

You really don't need a sesnory deprivation tank when you're on acid. On a decent dose it's pretty easy to turn your attention completely inward if you try meditating.

John Lily? His book, "Center of the Cyclone" is about his experience with LSD in an isolation tank. It was a good read, but he kind of lost me when he went on the tangent about African mysticism.
