I have never really tried to get into them. But they are touring Australia with one of my favourite bands "the drones" So i might go see them if i can get in cause i am under 18.
omg i would highly suggest going! i couldn't get into them at first, either. it literally took me like, a month and a half to really "get" them. the one day they just finally clicked. try downloading "yankee hotel foxtrot". all the best songs(for the most part) are on that record.
You're right Karmalized. An awesome and underrated live band. I've seen them about 6 times (not far from you) and it's a different experience every time. They've evolved so much from their alt-country roots (albums: "A.M." and "Being There") to cool pop ("Summerteeth") to longer, psychedelic -- but beautiful and still very melodic -- jams ("Yankee Hotel Foxtrot," "A Ghost Is Born"). The new album ("Blue Skies") is great too. This band will definitely grow on you. If you really want to see where they came from, check out Jeff Tweedy's first band, Uncle Tupelo. I learned about them a few years back and they remain in heavy rotation in my house. Also, check out the movie documentary about them: "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart." You'll love it. Can you tell I'm a fanatic?
One of my favorite bands for sure. Here's a link to some great bootlegs http://panicstream.net/streams/wilco/
I'm not trying to be rude, but for the other ppl on here thier new album is called "Sky Blue Sky". And I watched "I am trying to break your heart" last summer. It was awesome. Jeff Tweedy is the man. seriously.
Oops! I stand corrected. Thanks Karmalized! People kinda turned on them for letting songs from Sky Blue Sky to be used in Volkswagen commercials, but a band like this gets no radio play, and Tweedy said he just wanted people to hear the songs. I'm not big on the commerical route, but he is right.
not hard to find wilco fans in chicago at all. i know a bunch of people who are goin to lollapalooza to see them. including myself! right on
my ex-boyfriend lovveeed wilco. but some of their music is so depressing, it sort of worried me that he liked them so much...
First Lolla, TwoStep? I was there last summer for my first Chicago one (had seen Lolla many times years past when it was a traveling show). We stayed at the hotel across from House of Blues. It had just changed names but I can't remember what it's now called -- Sax?. We just walked to the park every day and started all over again. Awesome time! I fell in love with that city in about two hours. Makes mine look like an architectural (and cultural) shithole! So Wilco is headlining? Might be time for another road trip.
^^^you're not kidding. i just saw wilco for the second time last night. dear jesus. what a good show.
I've never seen them live, but I can't stop watching anything that Nels Clien does.. Whether it's with Wilco, Mike Watt, or anyone else he jams with . .. Rant of the day: Why is Wilco's set for lolapalooza on at the same time as RATM??? Which geniusses decided that would be a good idea?
I find it a little odd that more people don't like Wilco. I would love to see them live. I took their Live in Chicago album with me on an overseas trip and listened to it obsessively.
i know right? i had actually been planning on going to lolla and noticed the same thing... i was seriously pissed. it was going to be a tough choice. oh well. i wasnt able to go after all, so i guess it doesnt matter. and i got to see wilco on monday anyway, so it really all worked out in the end.
I had not really heard too much of Wilco's stuff before I saw them live... after I saw them live... I was HOOKED... love, love, love them!
My friends like Wilco, but I prefer Son Volt. They both came from the same band when it split and sound similar, but Son Volt has better lyrics.
