my ultimate band wouldn't be based on the names of musicians. it would have tabla's and congas and concert tympany, but no snares, or high hats. gamalon instruments and gongs maybe. there's be an electric base and at least one or more keyboard synthasists. a base claranet, a french horn, and a couple of flutes, those would carry the lead. no string section and no guitars as such (other then the electric base), the synths would fill the middle fatness. there's be all sorts of other interesting oddness on particular pieces. illan pipes perhapse and digiree's and other ethinic odities from arround the planet. there might be two female vocals on some cuts too. but melodies rather then lyrics would be the emphasis. creating soundscapes of imaginary alien spaces would be the whole point of the exercise. to quote john prine: "music's only as fine as the silence its compaired to" yes my orientation is pretty much cerebral. there'd be a lot of bluring the lines between jazz, symphonic, and popular. even some miro-tonal stuff, and definately therimins. =^^= .../\...
