Hi people! Describe what you consider to be the most realistic vision of society in 5 years, 15 years, 50 years, 500 years, 2000 years and 200 000 years. If like me you don't have tons of knowlegde about the evolution of societies, you can you let your imagination guide you. But if you do have an opinion based on facts, it'd be really interesting to hear you explain it with your current knowledge. Peace
five years is too short a period of time, usually, to expect chainges profound enough to be descirbed in short and simple words. in 500 many a tale that hangs in the balance today, will have been settled one way or another. it seems unlikely that some sort of implosion of human population will not have transpired in that time. and beyond the other side of it, not terribly likely that what we take for the profound issues of today, or at least the sides taken on them, to be remembered. what we do to the environment in the next few decades will really be the major thing. if what we've done in the past few hasn't already surpassed some hidden tripping point of which we are only fractionally if at all less then ignorant of at the present time. in a thousand years, wars as we know them will be a thing of the forgotten past as well. assuming there's anybody still here. which is not forgone either way. in 50 years no one will be able to afford to drive a petrolium powered automobile, and let us hope not kept so ignorant as to start driving coal fired ones. what i see over the longer span is an eventual return to public transportation, powered by clean, or at least cleaner, sources of energy then we are as yet entirely familiar with doing so. in a hundred years or so, or at most a few hundred, i expect to see both a shrinking of human population and a gradual return to health of the natural environment. a lot of things currently taken for granted will of course chainge, as they have continued to chainge and been chainging all along. an international great depression may come and go in the next hundred years. there will be many shortages and much saying of doom, but also an excellent chance that humanity in some form may survive. =^^= .../\...
the number of idiots pretending that there can't be as a cop out for refusing to get themselves a conscience and practice self dicipline. =^^= .../\...
that was quite harsh. my IQ is well above the "idiot" level, i am quite sure yours is too. all species become extrinct, and that does inclued ours as well. we are now living in a time of a great die off, mainly due to our species actions. will we kill ourselves off? at this time that is a great unknown. i agree there are way, way, too many immature and narcissistic people in the world, and most of them have an average IQ, or higher. they are all emotionaly retardated though. i am not one of them either! i have no ideal what the future may be like, and no one else does either. right now, both the long and shot term trends look quite shitty indeed! there is the chance that some (or most) of the trends could change for the better.
Humans have extinted many species that lived in the world and we are also doing to ourselves if we dont stop pollution and recycle as much as we can we will soon die out.
Judging on the next 15 years. It is likely that the EU will expand, then be scrapped altogether or some countries withdrawing. There will be more anarchy in Iraq. It will be 14 years approx after the second terror attack of New York subway. And America will soon be humble. Britain will elect a conservative Government and will reintroduce the death penalty. It will be public hang draw and quatering for all common criminals. The limbs will then be assembled at the four corners of the Country, as a warning. Kids will become advanced and then when they grow up, will the world feel the consequences.
or the journal of the world future society. herry seldon was a neat idea, but we live in a statistcial universe, not such a linear one. the woffs usually posit multiple alternative scenarios covering multiple ways things can go. in the 70s i had a chart i xeroxed from their journal 'the futurist', that covered trends up to sometime, the mid 90s i think it was, that did stay fairly accurate over that span of time. i haven't been near a college library lately so i haven't seen an issue of it in ages. i don't know if its still published or they even still exist or what. i'm immagining and hoping they still do. =^^= .../\...
The world will end my arse. Infact the world will always be. Let it be known that all humans die. The world is immortal, yet man must one day meet the hole in the ground. laying on dirt, conscious in his mind, but in his body, completely dead. Society in britain is one that resembles one of moral breakdown. Everyone is potentially thirty minutes away from spending the rest of their lives in prison. But in the future, Britain will live in a squeaky clean society, every restaurant will be a Taco Bell. And we will all have funny little songs to sing to, like the Jolly Green giant and the Hotdog song. It could happen. I also believe Cannabis will become a legalised drug in the year 2026.
