From reading many different experiences from the effects Salvia has on different people, I happened to notice a consistency among most of the personality traits. Most of the reported hard-core, out of body experiences I have read are from those who actually hold beliefs in the supernatural (i.e. gods, spirits, paranormal, etc). I'm assuming Salvia has greater the affect on these people, because they are more susceptible to lose conscience with the left hemisphere of their brains; therefore, becoming unfamiliar with oneself and reality. Being an Atheist and very analytical thinker, I feel I am incapable to experience an out-of body, parallel universe that my spiritual-thinking friends are experiencing. However, my analylitcal-thinking peers have the same problem as I. Everytime I try these different extracts, I only experience the heavy, gravitational pull and extreme laughter that follows. I've also read many experiences where people come into contact with their "spiritual guardian." I am almost positive these experiences are just byproducts of their wondering right hemispheres; in which, stimulates the similar supernatural beings they're familiar with. However, just for fun, I would like to know how many of you are experiencing spiritual instances; in which, your acclaimed religious/spiritual beliefs are hightened. In that case, I'm wondering if the delusional experiences you're having in La La Land are similar to those with schizophrenia. Any thoughts? Note: My interest is not meant to humiliate or insult those with spiritual beliefs. It is just out of curiosity with the vunerability Salvia might have on those who are ........"out-of-the-box" thinkers.
Same thing for me. It pulls me to the floor and I start laughing, that's about it, no pretty colors or visits from the spirit realm. I am also a logical/analytical thinker, you may be onto something here.
It's just I've read a lot from Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor (a neurologist) on the human brain, and the brain activity of sociopaths she talks about exhibit similar traits that's associated with reported Salvia experiences. I wish she, or some neurologist, could shed some light on this. I'm not inferring that I'm incapable of producing lucid, Salvia effects, but I'm suggesting that it may be less likely for me, and other logical thinkers, to be dislodged from reality, as easily as others. Actually, I'm almost certain...
well it makes sense... no matter how much/what type of salvia you are on, the images, and other "worlds" you enter are still just figments of YOUR imagination, made by YOU. If you perceive and think about the world analytically, it seems reasonable that any effects you get would be related to the way you think: realistic. You think realistically, and reason logically, so seems less likely that you would create unreal, illogical experiences... maybe? It's like watching those movies with the 4D glasses that pop out at you; If you don't get absorbed into the movie and let go of the fact that you are just watching a flat screen, the images won't appear to be jumping out of the movie Any visuals you get are created by your imagination... not real, so try and let go of reality. Hope that helps, just my thoughts
I don't know if this helps but this thread reminded of me this site I book marked forever ago. It's a test about if your right/left brained. Who knows about it's accuracy though http://www.shamozzle.com/RightLeftBrainTest.html
i've seen that before...clockwise for me if you concentrate you can make her switch directions though... try looking at her feet
I don't know Green, I'm not spiritual and I don't believe in anything supernatural at all but I have had extremely fantastical "out-of body, parallel universe" type experiences. I'd say about 80% of my friends that have done salvia would be pretty firmly grounded logical realistic thinkers aswell and most (but not all) of them have had similar experiences. Of the 20% that are spiritual or believe in paranormal/supernatural type things (mainly girls for whatever reason) again most (but not all) of them have had similar experiences. I do think however if you are very self consciuos and have trouble going with the flow of things in general then you are less likely to have one of these type experiences and there is probably some level of cross over between very analytic thinkers and overly self conscious people, pehaps that explains what you've noticed. Do you find it hard to let go and relax your inhibitions in normal social situations? As far as the similarities with schizophrenia, well slavia is a kappa opioid agonists and these types of chemicals are long known to produce a psychotomimetic effect which basically means it mimics the symptoms of psychosis.
I was just suggesting it, and ha yes I have a social life. Very much so, but I for dome reason couldn't get it to work for me and having a psych Major it just got me thinking...
If you try it with me it will work on you. Even if I have to quickly paint my walls funny and dress in a mushroom outfit to trick you into thinking it works once you take a hit. I think for hardheads, there's an aspect of learning to let it take you if it doesn't take you by force. I'd been a "realist" and considered a very analytical mind. I got little from it a few tries, but I did breakthrough. See, you can be silly and just believe those spiritual things because you're bored with life or just gullible. Or you can be realist about it and not buy into any of that crap. In both cases, though, odds are you're close-minded and have already made up your decision then shut the doors to furthering your beliefs. I've been there. I've gone from "don't wanna hear that bullcrap" to understanding reality and the mind is not so simple, and I've been foolish to discount "beyond the norm" just because I associated it with gullible fools. Only took me 28 years. :-| And there is, afterall, a science to anything, even the potential for the spirit or larger conscious being real (salvia can most certainly show you that all too vividly). You're not dismissing logic in any ideas you may have on the matter.
