So I've got the opportunity to go travelling in my summer break this year. I've never really travelled before and it's something I'd love to do. I've also got a well-paid job lined up to work for a couple of months. Not something I particularly want to do, but I could really do with the cash, especially since I've got another four expensive years at university left. Both of them would require the entire break so I couldn't split into a half & half situation, and because of the course I'm doing I won't get any long breaks like this again. Do I put my beige trousers on and go for the work, or do I throw caution to the wind and travel all summer?
When you simplify it down to this, I think that the answer is pretty self-evident. Money isn't everything and who knows, after college, you may get married or have kids and the extended travelling may not be a viable option anymore, whereas hopefully, your opportunities to earn good money will have increased. Travel safe, travel free.
Travel. Have you ever heard of someone on their deathbed saying they wished that they had worked more? You've got plenty of time to work.
Work, the government needs your tax money. Seriously though. See the world. You are not that old, maturity is not that important, and there is a lot of the world to be seen. Look at it like this, if the crazies are right, and the world ends in 2012, is that how you want to be spending the last four years of your life? See the world Moose.
Good point, well made. Okay next dilemma... Where do I go? I've thought about the Camp America thing as a cheap way to see the US. I'd like to go to South America at some point. I don't speak Spanish though. So many options. So much world!
