Hey everyone....... I have been volunteering at the Philly Folk Fest for a while now (5 years) and have noticed a bad vibe creeping up into the fest over the last 2 years. I don't think I will be attending the Philly Folk Fest this year. I have thought about going to the Falcon Ridge Folk Fest this year instead. It is closer to where I live, cheaper, and WAAAAAAAAY more laid back than the Philly fest. Has anyone ever attended this festival? The bands are great and the grounds are real nice. If anyone has attended this festival, please give me some info about the vibe at Falcon Ridge.

hey man, i go every year and it is sooooooo much fun!! i live like 2 minutes away and i volunteer there! its deffinetly the highlight of my year!! the bands r great, the people r awsome (except the towny kids who just go for the drugs a boose) fairly small area so its easy to get around.
if u volunteer u get free camping, 3 free meals a day, and ur allowed into the fest on wednesday (the day before it starts) so u can get a good camp site.
u should deffinetly go this year, its the 20th anniversary so its gonna be extra special!
its gonna be a fun time!

I used to go every year back when it was at the old place in Hillsdale. I understand it hasn't changed much since they moved it, and if it's like it used to be, an awesome time is to be had by all. People are totally laid back, and they take care of you, from the clean port-a-potties to the showers, to the plentiful camping space (this is not like the second Woodstock, folks). Now that I've got kids, it's one of the few fests I can take them to where I don't have to worry about a bunch of kids tripping on drugs everywhere--not that that's necessarily a bad thing, I just don't want my kids around it is all. We're thinking of going this year.

it hasent changed a bit Yelow, in fact i think its better, u dont have to climb that massive hill to get to the campsites, and there is a lot more shade now cause all surrounded by forest! its still in Hillsdale just the other end.

Holy cow, you're right, I didn't even notice the date on the thread before, but it's old, that was about the time I stumbled on this forum.

Six years ago this summer, our daughter was born five days before Falcon Ridge. My girlfriend and I already had tickets, so we took her with us. It was excellent. What a way for a kid to enter the world! We went one more year after that, my sixth year straight. Then they moved it, and our friends stopped going, so we stopped.

We're married now, but nothing's changed, except we don't get out as often, but y'all have inspired me with this thread. I'm pretty sure we'll go this year, with or without our friends, and our daughter will love it!

Take it easy, see y'all there.
