Yup, we need a little more to go by. Where I live, there's still 8" of snow on the ground so I can't grow ANYTHING yet. But I have friends who are just putting in their veggie gardens, others who are just harvesting the first of their peas, and another friend who is getting her garden ready for winter right now! US growing zones, or general area of the world is fine... we don't need to know exact city or state or anything love, mom
Pretty much anything you would like. I've already got my vegetables in, things like Tomato, Pepper, Zuccini, Cucumbers. You don't have to worry about frost down there so you basically have no limits, except for plants that need chill. Your local nursery should be overflowing with plants and seeds right now.
Alrightie... looks like you're roughly a zone 9. Well if I lived in your zone, I think the first things I'd pick up is a dwarf citrus tree. Meyer lemon comes to mind as a wonderful option. Hostas & lamb's ears (stachys) are a few nice shade plants & it looks like you can grow just about any of the varieties. I ignore mine and they thrive, so they seem to me to be good "beginner" or "easy" plants. You can also grow most of the really fancy, pretty grasses that won't grow in my zone. They're low maintenance, grow super tall in a single season, and are fun to look at year-round. I'd pick a maiden grass or fountain grass because that's what I KNOW works here... as an annual For flowers, you can have just about anything you'd like! How about some daylilies? I've got Stella D'Oro, a wild "tiger" lily, and a white (Peace maybe?) one here. You can have ANY color you like! Then there are roses, daisies, irises, coneflowers... those are the ones that come to mind as "easy" plants to me. And then there are your herbs and veggies. With your growing-year, you should be able to plant just about anything you want & have time to harvest it. I think the only one I'd worry about is peas... because they're an early spring veggie. Good luck! love, mom
